The grand parade of masked floats in the heart of the city
The Pordenone Carnival is one of the most anticipated events of the Friulian winter. Organized by the Municipality, the grand parade of masked floats transforms the city center into a river of colors, music, and masks, with impressive allegorical floats โ up to 9.5 meters high โ built by local groups and from the nearby Veneto region.
The parade attracts thousands of people and hundreds of participants each year, who travel along viale Martelli and the city streets to piazza XX Settembre, the pulsating heart of the festival, where entertainment and award ceremonies take place.
Alongside the allegorical floats, there are musical bands, majorettes, and masked groups, including the Filarmonica Cittร di Pordenone and groups from Prata di Pordenone and eastern Veneto municipalities. Among the most characteristic guests is the delegation from the Venice Carnival, which brings the elegance of Venetian masks to the city.
The Pordenone Carnival stands out for its focus on inclusion: during the parade, the music volume is lowered in the first section of the route to facilitate participation for children with autism and individuals with particular sensitivities. The children's party, usually on Fat Tuesday, concludes the celebrations with music, face painting, games, and activities in the square.
With its evening video projections and widespread events, the Carnival animates Pordenone for several weeks, confirming the vitality of a city that is a candidate for Italian Capital of Culture 2027.
The Pordenone Carnival 2026 features the main event, the parade of masked floats on Sunday, February 1st, with eleven allegorical floats from Friuli and Veneto, accompanied by musical bands, majorettes, and the Venice Carnival delegation. The festival concludes with the children's party on Tuesday, February 17th, Fat Tuesday, in piazza XX Settembre.
To accompany the carnival weeks, there will be evening video projections in the city from January 26th to February 17th.
During the parade, the music volume is reduced in the first section of the route to improve accessibility.
