Three days dedicated to the queen of Bergamascan cuisine
Polenta taragna is more than a dish: it's an icon of the mountain cuisine of Bergamo and Brescia. Prepared by mixing corn and buckwheat flour with generous amounts of butter and local cheese, it's a rich and comforting dish, perfect for the still cool spring evenings. In Ghisalba, a municipality in the Bassa Bergamasca, an entire Polenta Taragna Festival is dedicated to it, hosted at the Festival Area in via degli Albarelli.
Although taragna is the star, the festival menu ranges across the great traditional specialties: casoncelli, pizzoccheri, grilled meats, and delicious pairings like taragna with braised beef. On Sundays, a "single dish" is also offered with a first course, grilled meat, and polenta, designed for those who want to taste the best in a single serving.
The evenings are enlivened by live music with tribute bands, while Sundays are also dedicated to the little ones, with face painting, creative workshops, and babydance. A formula that makes the festival an event suitable for everyone, where good food is accompanied by fun and conviviality.
Born recently, the Polenta Taragna Festival has quickly carved out a space in the calendar of Bergamascan fairs, confirming how traditional cuisine can still attract and unite the community. In Ghisalba, in the province of Bergamo, it has become an anticipated occasion to celebrate the authentic flavors of the territory.
From March 27 to 29, 2026, the Ghisalba Festival Area hosts the second edition of the Polenta Taragna Festival. Three days dedicated to the signature dish of Bergamascan cuisine, accompanied by casoncelli, pizzoccheri, grilled meats, and pairings such as taragna with braised beef.
The evenings are enlivened by tribute bands, while Sunday offers activities for children with face painting, creative workshops, and babydance, as well as the "single dish" with a first course, grilled meat, and polenta.
Among the offerings: "Taragna and Braised Beef" and the Sunday "Single Dish".
