About Polenta Taragna Ghisalba

At the Ghisalba Festival Area, in spring, the Polenta Taragna Festival takes place, a gastronomic fair entirely dedicated to one of the symbolic dishes of the Bergamascan tradition. Taragna, prepared with corn and buckwheat flour, butter, and mountain cheese, is the absolute protagonist, accompanied by casoncelli, pizzoccheri, and grilled meats. Three days of good food and live music, with tribute bands and family activities, in a convivial atmosphere that celebrates the authentic flavors of the province of Bergamo.

Taragna, queen of the Bergamascan table

Polenta taragna is more than a dish: it's an icon of the mountain cuisine of Bergamo and Brescia. Prepared by mixing corn and buckwheat flour with generous amounts of butter and local cheese, it's a rich and comforting dish, perfect for the still cool spring evenings. In Ghisalba, a municipality in the Bassa Bergamasca, an entire Polenta Taragna Festival is dedicated to it, hosted at the Festival Area in via degli Albarelli.

Not just taragna

Although taragna is the star, the festival menu ranges across the great traditional specialties: casoncelli, pizzoccheri, grilled meats, and delicious pairings like taragna with braised beef. On Sundays, a "single dish" is also offered with a first course, grilled meat, and polenta, designed for those who want to taste the best in a single serving.

Music and families

The evenings are enlivened by live music with tribute bands, while Sundays are also dedicated to the little ones, with face painting, creative workshops, and babydance. A formula that makes the festival an event suitable for everyone, where good food is accompanied by fun and conviviality.

A young but already beloved event

Born recently, the Polenta Taragna Festival has quickly carved out a space in the calendar of Bergamascan fairs, confirming how traditional cuisine can still attract and unite the community. In Ghisalba, in the province of Bergamo, it has become an anticipated occasion to celebrate the authentic flavors of the territory.
