Three nights of pizza, beer, and live music in Roccasecca Scalo
Pizza in Piazza is the summer event promoted by the Pro Loco of Roccasecca, in the municipality of Roccasecca, in the province of Frosinone (Lazio). For three consecutive nights, the stretch between Via Piave and Piazza Risorgimento, in the Scalo district, turns into a long gastronomic trail: the town's pizzeria ovens stay lit non-stop, and the center fills with tables, lights, and music.
The hallmark of the event is that the cooking is done not by anonymous stands, but by local businesses that move their ovens out of their premises and into the square. The 2026 edition featured Pizzeria del Secolo, El Merendero, l'Angolo del Caffé, GianPà, OcaBar, and Pizzeria Gliù Biond, with desserts provided by Punto Pasta. Alongside classic Margherita pizzas and traditional toppings, there are savory and sweet specialties, fried foods, and draft beer.
The gastronomic side is complemented by a musical program that changes nightly, focusing primarily on local bands. In 2026, the stage hosted Eclipse, a young group making their debut at the event, singer Sonia Galante, and the Street Music Band, who closed the three-day festival. In 2025, it was the turn of The Organism, the Benny Di Zazzo Band, and Born to be Wild. The choice to give space to emerging groups and local cover bands is a constant of the event and contributes to the informal atmosphere of the evenings.
Launched in 2024, the event reached its third edition in 2026, confirming a steady growth in attendance. The evenings attract families, young people, and visitors from neighboring towns in the Liri Valley and the Cassinate area, with turnout described by organizers as record-breaking. The event relies on the work of the Pro Loco volunteers, led by Fabrizio Torriero, and the collaboration with the municipal administration, the Civil Protection, the Misericordia of Roccasecca, and the Carabinieri.
Roccasecca is best known as the birthplace of Saint Thomas Aquinas and for its medieval castle overlooking the valley. The town is divided between the historic village perched on the slopes of Mount Asprano and the more modern, flat Scalo district, where Pizza in Piazza takes place. The event is part of a summer calendar full of popular appointments that accompany the entire season until September in this part of the province of Frosinone.
Pizza in Piazza is not a massive food festival, but an authentic village feast where the added value is the direct participation of local restaurateurs and the collective gathering atmosphere. It is a simple opportunity to taste the pizza of the Lower Lazio region in a convivial setting, with the chance to dine outdoors without reservations and at affordable prices.
The 2026 edition of Pizza in Piazza was held in Roccasecca Scalo for three consecutive nights, from Friday to Sunday. The Pro Loco involved six local businesses, which brought their ovens to the street: Pizzeria del Secolo, El Merendero, l'Angolo del Caffé, GianPà, OcaBar, and Pizzeria Gliù Biond, while desserts were provided by Punto Pasta.
Each evening, a different musical appointment enlivened the square. The organizers reported a great public success, with families and young people arriving from neighboring towns as well.
