Three evenings of flavor and music in the heart of the Viterbo Tuscia

In the heart of the Viterbo Tuscia, perched on a tuff spur just a few kilometers from Viterbo and Orte, the village of Bassano in Teverina is one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. Every year, in the height of summer, this small town in the Province of Viterbo, in the Lazio region, comes alive with the Pizza Festival, a popular event that combines good food, music, and conviviality.
The Pizza Festival began almost as a joke many years ago and, edition after edition, has grown to become one of the most anticipated food and wine events of the summer in the Tuscia region. The credit goes to the Santi Fidenzio e Terenzio Celebration Committee, the group of volunteers named after the village's two patron saints, who organize the event every year with enthusiasm and community spirit.
At the center of the festival is, of course, pizza, baked in many varieties and offered at popular prices in the square set up for the occasion. The evenings take place outdoors, with shared tables where residents and visitors gather to enjoy pizzas fresh from the oven in a cheerful and informal atmosphere.
In addition to the gastronomy, the festival offers musical entertainment every night: live performances, dance evenings, and DJ sets transform the square into an open-air dance floor, with music and dancing under the stars until late. It is a simple and genuine opportunity to experience the hospitality of a Tuscia village, amidst authentic flavors and contagious joy.
Those attending the Pizza Festival can take the opportunity to visit Bassano in Teverina, with its medieval historic center, bell tower, and panoramic views over the Tiber valley. The village guards the memory of its patron saints Fidenzio and Terenzio, proclaimed protectors of the town in 1632 and officially celebrated on September 27th: the summer pizza festival, on the other hand, is the most convivial and delicious moment of the local calendar.
The Pizza Festival in Bassano in Teverina is expected to return in 2026, in the month of August, with the usual open-air evenings dedicated to pizza in many varieties, live music, and dancing under the stars at the Sala Polivalente parking area.
The official dates and the complete program for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced. Information will be updated as soon as the Santi Fidenzio e Terenzio Celebration Committee releases the event calendar.
Bassano in Teverina is located in the Province of Viterbo, about 22 km from Viterbo and 9 km from Orte. By car, it can be reached via the A1 motorway (Orte exit) and the Orte-Viterbo expressway. The nearest train station is Orte, on the Rome-Florence line.
The event is held outdoors at the Sala Polivalente parking area, in the Via XXV Aprile area.
Admission to the festival area is free; you pay at the counter for what you consume. Pizzas and drinks are offered at popular prices by the stands managed by the committee's volunteers.
The evenings begin around 8:00 PM. On days with higher attendance, particularly around Ferragosto, it is advisable to arrive early to find a seat at the tables.
