Stuffed pizza, porchetta, and evening music at the foot of the Gran Sasso
The Pizza and Porchetta Festival takes place every June in the village of San Gabriele, at the Terminal Bus parking area just a short walk from the famous Sanctuary, in the municipality of Isola del Gran Sasso d'Italia, in the province of Teramo. Set at the foot of the Gran Sasso massif, in the heart of the mountainous Abruzzo region, the event combines the authenticity of local village cuisine with the festive atmosphere of Abruzzese summer fairs.
As the name suggests, the highlights of the festival are stuffed pizza and porchetta, served at food stalls along with numerous other local specialties and draft beer. The stalls open every evening at 7:00 PM, offering informal outdoor dining in a convivial atmosphere that is the true heart of the event.
The festival is about more than just food: every evening features concerts, DJ sets, and guest performers. Over the years, the lineup has included tribute bands, television personalities, and well-known faces from the national media, turning the event into a true summer festival capable of attracting crowds from across the Teramo province and beyond.
Organized by the End Summer Festival Association, the festival was born in 2024 as a spin-off of the Start Summer Festival and has quickly established itself as one of the most popular gastronomic events of the summer in Isola del Gran Sasso. Its simple and successful formula blends good food, live music, and dancing in a stunning natural setting.
The festival is also the perfect opportunity to discover Isola del Gran Sasso d'Italia and the village of San Gabriele, a pilgrimage destination thanks to the Sanctuary of San Gabriele dell'Addolorata, and to explore the trails and landscapes of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park.
The 2026 edition of the Pizza and Porchetta Festival was held from June 18 to 21 at the Terminal Bus parking area in San Gabriele, as part of the 2026 Start Summer Festival. The highlight was the White Night on Saturday, June 20: with stalls open from 7:00 PM, the evening featured a 9:30 PM concert by Daniele Si Nasce, a Renato Zero impersonator known for his appearance on the show Tale e Quale, followed late in the evening by a performance from Fabrizio Corona, one of the most discussed figures in the Italian media landscape. Stuffed pizza, porchetta, and Abruzzese specialties accompanied every evening of the event.
The festival is held at the Terminal Bus parking area in San Gabriele, a village in Isola del Gran Sasso d'Italia (TE). By car: take the A24 Rome-Teramo motorway, exit at Colledara-San Gabriele, then follow signs for the Sanctuary. Ample parking is available on-site.
Food stalls open every evening at 7:00 PM. Admission to the festival area is free; you only pay for what you consume at the stalls.
As these are outdoor evenings in a mountain area, a warm layer for the evening is recommended. During the festival, the village of San Gabriele is very busy due to the Sanctuary, so arriving early is advisable.
