Two days of rural traditions, vintage tractors, and Piedmontese flavors at the Castle of Piovera
The Piovera Agriculture Festival is one of the most cherished events in the rural territory of the Alessandria province. Every spring, the village of Alluvioni Piovera and its stunning medieval castle provide the backdrop for a weekend entirely dedicated to farming culture, the land, and the traditions of lower Piedmont. The event is organized by the Pro Loco Tourist Association of Piovera, in collaboration with the Municipality and the Castle of Piovera, and is sponsored by the Regional Council of Piedmont.
The heart of the festival is the large market fair featuring agricultural, local, and artisanal products, which enlivens the historic center all day long. Among the most popular attractions is the vintage tractor rally and parade, which brings back to life the machinery that shaped local agriculture, alongside the unique man-versus-tractor tug-of-war and the Pro Loco Piovera Trophy. The event also hosts conferences on agricultural topics and innovation, reflecting a festival that looks toward the future of the sector.
The event blends its rural spirit with significant cultural offerings, including the Modern Fossils painting and sculpture exhibition hosted within the castle, alongside photography displays and guided tours of the manor and its museums. Numerous activities are planned for families: farm animals, pony rides, children's games, and a rural maze. At the table, guests can enjoy traditional Piedmontese dishes, from the famous Haymaking Lunch to the Country Dinners served in the marquee, in anticipation of the Braised Pork Cheek Festival.
The festival takes place in the municipality of Alluvioni Piovera, in the province of Alessandria, in the heart of the Piedmontese Po Valley, a short distance from Tortona and Alessandria. The Castle of Piovera, a historic residence surrounded by a large park, is the focal point of the event and is well worth a visit on its own. Entrance to the park during the festival is free; guided tours of the castle require a ticket and reservation.
The 17th edition of the Piovera Agriculture Festival was held on Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24, 2026, reaffirming the village's bond with its rural roots. The event, organized by the Pro Loco of Piovera in collaboration with the Castle of Piovera and Confagricoltura Alessandria, enlivened the historic center and the castle park with markets, tractor rallies, and convivial moments.
The 2026 edition featured, alongside traditional events, a conference dedicated to precision agriculture and new technological tools, as well as the new art exhibition from the Modern Fossils series.
