The midsummer beer festival in Cattaragna, in the mountains of Val d'Aveto
The Pinte Under the Stars Festival is one of the most cherished events of the summer in Cattaragna, a small hamlet in the Municipality of Ferriere, in the province of Piacenza and in the heart of Val d'Aveto. In this corner of the Emilian Apennines, where Emilia-Romagna borders Liguria, the festival marks the highlight of the mountain village's summer calendar, when the warm August nights invite people to stay out late.
As the name itself suggests – a play on words between "pints" of beer and the "painted" starry sky – fresh beer is the true protagonist. The food stands offer local specialties of the Apennine tradition, from typical mountain cuisine dishes to more informal options to enjoy with friends. All in a convivial and family atmosphere, typical of village festivals, where there is no entrance fee and people simply gather to be together.
The evening continues with live music and DJ sets that liven up the dance floor. The music selections range from the greatest hits of the '70s, '80s, and '90s to the most current tracks, to get all generations dancing "under the stars." It's a festival that brings together residents and the many vacationers who choose the cool air of Val d'Aveto for their holidays in the summer.
Cattaragna is one of the many hamlets of the vast Municipality of Ferriere, a mountain land surrounded by woods, trails, and panoramas that have earned the area the nickname "Terrace of Val d'Aveto." The Circolo A.N.S.P.I. Amici di Cattaragna is the soul of the village's community life and organizes events throughout the year, such as the Rosso Vivo Festival, a non-competitive walk, and, of course, the Pinte Under the Stars Festival, which represents one of the most beloved moments of aggregation for the community.
Traditionally held around mid-August, the festival takes place during the Ferragosto period, when the small villages of the Piacenza Apennines become populated again and summer festivals mark the rhythm of the holidays. For those spending the summer in Emilia-Romagna and wishing to discover the authentic mountain village life, the Pinte Under the Stars Festival is a perfect opportunity to enjoy beer, good food, and music with friends, far from mass tourism.
The new edition of the Pinte Under the Stars Festival is scheduled for Thursday, August 13, 2026, in Cattaragna, a hamlet of Ferriere (province of Piacenza, Emilia-Romagna). As every year, the evening will revolve around fresh beer, food stands with Apennine tradition specialties, and music for dancing under the stars of Val d'Aveto. The detailed music program will be announced by the organizers of the Circolo Amici di Cattaragna closer to the event.
