The city-wide festival of independent art and craftsmanship in Pigneto
Pigneto in Love is a widespread festival dedicated to contemporary art and craftsmanship held in the Pigneto district of Rome, in the Lazio region. Conceived by the Ùtol Ceramica studio, the event temporarily transforms artist studios, artisan workshops, independent bookstores, bars, and unusual venues into exhibition and meeting spaces, taking art out of traditional settings and sparking a direct dialogue with the urban fabric and the local community.
Every year, coinciding with Valentine's Day and the Carnival season, participating venues independently develop their own contributions around the theme of love, understood not just in a sentimental sense but as a connection between people, languages, and urban spaces: love for others, for oneself, for art, and for the neighborhood. The result is an emotional geography that invites residents and visitors to explore Pigneto on foot, moving from shop to shop, discovering its vibrant independent creative scene.
The program weaves together multiple artistic languages: illustration and comics, ceramics, video installations, independent publishing, design, readings, music, and hybrid practices. The calendar includes:
Pigneto, a historic working-class district east of Rome's center made famous by the cinema of Pier Paolo Pasolini and now the heart of the city's nightlife and creativity, is the perfect setting for a city-wide festival. With over twenty spaces involved in each edition—from ceramics studios to restaurants, bars, bookstores, and artisan workshops—Pigneto in Love highlights the work of those who have chosen art and craftsmanship as their passion and way of life, strengthening the sense of community and the cultural vocation of this Roman district.
Almost all events are free to attend, with activities spread over several days and across dozens of different locations. It is an opportunity to experience Pigneto in a slow and convivial way, amidst meetings with artists and artisans, aperitifs, and unexpected discoveries.
From February 12 to 17, 2026, the Pigneto district in Rome hosted the sixth edition of Pigneto in Love, with over 28 spaces involved, including ateliers, bookstores, creative studios, galleries, and workshops. All events were free of charge.
