The travelling festival of theatre, magic, and comedy in Pieve Torina
Pieve Toridens is the summer showcase of comedy theatre, magic, and cabaret organized by the Municipality of Pieve Torina, a small village in the Macerata hinterland, in the Marche Region, at the foot of the Sibillini Mountains. Founded in 2021, the event offers a series of free outdoor evenings every July, dedicated to what organizers like to call intelligent comedy: shows that combine illusionism, puppetry, clowning, and cabaret in a programme suitable for the whole family.
The distinctive feature of Pieve Toridens is its travelling nature: the shows are not concentrated in a single square but move between different locations within the municipal territory. The curtain traditionally rises in Piazza Santa Maria Assunta, in the heart of the historic centre, and then reaches the hamlets of Casavecchia and Val Sant'Angelo. This is a precise choice by the municipal administration, which aims to bring culture to all areas of the town, even the most peripheral ones, enhancing villages and communities affected by the 2016 earthquake and now protagonists of a new season of rebirth.
Each edition features artists from the national comedy theatre and magic scene. In past editions, performers such as Duo Flosh with their show "No Stop", the magician and comedian Rocco Borsalino, the illusionist Raffaello Corti, and Enrico Zambianchi have graced the stage, alternating comic magic, prestidigitation, and cabaret. The events take place in the evening, usually at 9:30 PM, when the cool air of the Sibillini makes it pleasant to watch the shows under the stars.
Located along the Chienti valley, Pieve Torina is one of the mountain municipalities in the province of Macerata closest to the Sibillini Mountains National Park. The festival is part of a rich summer calendar of cultural initiatives that the village dedicates to the region's relaunch, including the literary prize "Fabulando" named after Gianni Rodari and the characteristic Living Nativity of Val Sant'Angelo. Pieve Toridens represents the light and fun soul of this programme, an opportunity to discover the Sibillini by combining tourism, nature, and live performance.
With free admission to all shows, Pieve Toridens confirms itself as a popular and inclusive event, capable of attracting audiences of all ages. The formula of intelligent comedy, far from vulgarity and attentive to younger audiences, makes this showcase one of the most appreciated summer events in the Macerata mountain area.
The 2026 edition of Pieve Toridens opens on Friday, July 17, 2026, launching a new season of the comedy theatre, magic, and cabaret showcase organized by the Municipality of Pieve Torina. As tradition dictates, the shows are travelling and free, spread between the historic centre and the hamlets of Casavecchia and Val Sant'Angelo throughout July.
Currently, the detailed programme with the names of the artists and the times of individual events has not yet been made public. The programme will be communicated by the municipal administration closer to the event: it is advisable to consult the official channels of the Municipality of Pieve Torina and the tourism office for updates.
