Eleven nights of beer, street food, and live music in Piazza Carmine
In just a few years, the Piedimonte Beer Fest has become one of the most anticipated summer events in the Alto Casertano region. At the end of June, Piazza Carmine, in the center of Piedimonte Matese (Province of Caserta, Campania), transforms into a massive open-air beer garden: draft stations, food stalls, long tables under the piazza lights, and a stage that powers the musical lineup every evening. In 2026, the festival celebrated its eighth edition, spanning eleven consecutive nights from June 25th to July 5th.
The festival's mechanism has remained the same for years and is one of the keys to its success: free admission every night, stands open from 6:00 PM, opening DJ sets, and live concerts at 10:00 PM. There are no tickets or pre-sales; you only pay for what you consume. It is a town square festival in the most authentic sense, where beer acts as a social glue across generations and the crowd mingles freely in front of the stage with no assigned seating.
Alongside a selection of draft beers, the festival places a strong emphasis on gastronomy, entrusted each year to a group of local operators. The 2026 edition featured eight food stations, with offerings ranging from grilled meats to seafood, pizza, and desserts:
There are also exhibitors and an area dedicated to children, making the evening accessible for families during the early hours.
The musical signature of the Piedimonte Beer Fest is its tribute bands, carefully chosen to cover diverse genres and generations: from the Neapolitan blues of Pino Daniele to the rock of Queen, from the pop songwriting of Cesare Cremonini to the international sounds of Imagine Dragons, and the pop-funk of Michael Jackson. Alongside the tributes, there are groups with original repertoires, ranging from the pizzica of the Notte della Taranta to gypsy punk. Each evening is preceded by an opening DJ set that accompanies the dining experience before the concert.
The Municipality of Piedimonte Matese is the main service hub of the Alto Casertano, stretching out at the foot of the Matese massif in a mountainous, water-rich area that marks the northern border of Campania toward Molise. The historic center, with its churches and stone alleys, provides a natural backdrop for the festival: Piazza Carmine is just a few steps from the town's main streets, and on festival nights, the entire area effectively becomes pedestrianized as the crowd moves between the stands and the stage.
The Piedimonte Beer Fest is neither a music festival with beer on the side, nor a food fair with a bit of background music: it is a celebration built on the balance between the two, with an unusual duration for this type of event. Eleven nights in a row allow you to choose your evening based on musical taste, or return multiple times to try different stands and dishes. For those visiting the Matese area in summer, it is also an excellent opportunity to experience the authentic atmosphere of a town square in the Campanian hinterland, far from the coastal tourist circuits.
In 2026, the Piedimonte Beer Fest extended its calendar even further, reaching eleven consecutive nights from June 25th to July 5th. The headquarters remained Piazza Carmine, in the center of Piedimonte Matese, with free admission every night.
Eight food stations accompanied the selection of draft beers: Alta Mangiuria, Chiancheria, On The Road, Big Bang Burger, UhยทMami, Il Veliero, Iberico, and the Salvatore Ciaramella pastry shop. The stands opened every evening at 6:00 PM, with exhibitors and an area dedicated to children.
Each evening opened with a DJ set and closed with the 10:00 PM concert. The lineup alternated tributes to the great names of Italian and international music with groups featuring original repertoires, from the Notte della Taranta to gypsy punk. The event was organized by Nero Cafรฉ, Green Garden, Alta Mangiuria, and L'Etto, with the patronage of the Municipality of Piedimonte Matese.
