Two June evenings in Lauro featuring young performers on stage and the Meatball Festival
Piccoli Talenti is a summer event held in Lauro, a municipality in the Vallo di Lauro area in the province of Avellino, Campania. The idea behind it is simple and generous: to provide local children and teenagers with a real stage and an audience, allowing them to express their talent, passion, and emotions. It is neither a televised talent show nor a fierce competition: it is a village festival built around the youth, with families sitting in the audience and the community participating.
The festival takes place over two consecutive evenings in June, starting at 8:00 PM. The organizers describe it as an opportunity to showcase the artistic skills of the little ones: singing, music, dance, and performance moments alternate on stage, followed by a comedian who closes the event.
The program for the two evenings combines three ingredients stated from the very beginning: music, entertainment, and fun. The performances of the young protagonists are the heart of the evening; around them, a program is developed to involve families, children, and enthusiasts alike, in the informal and welcoming atmosphere typical of summer festivals in Irpinia.
The final evening features a guest comedian: in the 2026 edition, the well-known comedian Fofò brought joy and entertainment to the audience, closing the two days on a lighthearted note.
Piccoli Talenti is not just about the stage. The event is twinned with the Meatball Festival (Sagra della Polpetta), which accompanies the evenings with a popular and recognizable gastronomic offer:
The combination of the young artists' stage and the festival stands is what gives the event its identity: culture, tradition, and conviviality in the same space, with the slow and familiar pace of summer village evenings.
The event is promoted by the cultural and recreational association «Valori e Tradizione», a local entity from Lauro, with the patronage of the Municipality of Lauro. The first editions took place in the hamlet of Migliano di Lauro, included in the municipal summer calendar alongside the Meatball Festival; the most recent edition confirmed the formula, reaching its third edition in 2026.
The event is part of the wider calendar of summer events promoted by the Municipality of Lauro, which from June to September enlivens the historic center, the Castello Lancellotti, and Palazzo Pignatelli with concerts, theatrical performances, exhibitions, literary events, and initiatives linked to local traditions. Piccoli Talenti represents its most familiar and local side: no national stars, but the kids from the town and nearby hamlets, who for two evenings become the protagonists in front of their fellow citizens.
Those who find themselves in the Vallo di Lauro during the event will discover a simple and authentic evening: an open-air stage, music, the scent of fried meatballs, and children preparing backstage. It is the kind of event that tells more than many guidebooks about how the small towns of Irpinia build their cultural life, entrusting it to local volunteers and families.
In 2026, Piccoli Talenti returned to Lauro, in the province of Avellino, for its third edition, scheduled for the evenings of June 20 and 21 starting at 8:00 PM. The initiative was promoted by the cultural and recreational association «Valori e Tradizione» with the patronage of the Municipality of Lauro.
Once again this year, the formula focused on children and teenagers: two evenings built around their performances, with the stated goal of showcasing their artistic skills and offering them a stage to express talent, passion, and emotions in front of an audience. Music, entertainment, and fun were the main ingredients of an event designed for families, children, and enthusiasts.
Accompanying the performances was the Meatball Festival, with a traditional menu that combined popular gastronomy and conviviality. The final evening of June 21 featured a special guest, the well-known comedian Fofò. The initiative confirmed the intent to combine culture, tradition, and conviviality, carving out a place among the highly anticipated events of Lauro's summer.
Lauro is located at the western end of the province of Avellino, in the Vallo di Lauro, a few kilometers from Nola and the border with the province of Naples. By car, it can be reached from the A16 Naples-Canosa motorway, taking the Baiano exit, or from the SS7 bis towards Nola. The town center is dominated by the Castello Lancellotti.
No admission fee has been announced for the evenings. Consumption at the Meatball Festival (meatballs in sauce and fried, sandwiches, chips, crêpes) must be paid for at the food stands.
The evenings start from 8:00 PM.
Organized by the cultural and recreational association «Valori e Tradizione», with the patronage of the Municipality of Lauro. Updates and date confirmations are released through the Municipality's channels and the local press of Vallo di Lauro.
The event is particularly suitable for families with children. It is advisable to arrive at the start of the performances and combine the evening with a walk in the historic center of Lauro, at the foot of the Castello Lancellotti.
