The great medieval historical re-enactment at the Da Peraga Castle in Vigonza
Peraga Medievale is the historical re-enactment that transforms the Da Peraga Castle, in the hamlet of Peraga in Vigonza (province of Padua), into an authentic medieval village every year. Founded in 1999, it has become one of the most anticipated events in the Veneto re-enactment calendar, attracting thousands of visitors.
The program features flag-wavers, musicians, jesters, pyrotechnic and fire shows, knightly tournaments, and equestrian competitions. Taverns open every evening with dishes inspired by medieval cuisine, while costumed participants bring alleys and encampments to life, recreating the crafts, customs, and symbolism of the era.
The dramatic heart of the event is the challenge between the districts, which culminates in the historical re-enactment "A.D. 1319 — Vigontino in Flames", followed by the victory or defeat procession. The grand historical procession, with ladies, knights, soldiers, and commoners, traverses the village under the evocative glow of torches.
Peraga Medievale is organized by the Il Mosaico APS Association together with the Parish of Peraga, with the patronage of the Veneto Region, the Province of Padua, and the Municipality of Vigonza. It is the result of the work of hundreds of volunteers and participants who recreate the magic of the Middle Ages each year.
The 2026 edition of Peraga Medievale, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the event, takes place from June 4th to 7th at the Da Peraga Castle. The chosen theme is 'The Middle Ages Revealed — Between Symbolism and Hidden Curiosities', featuring a new logo that combines the rampant lion and the wheel of the Da Peraga family.
Among the anniversary novelties are the 'Convivio Di-Vino' aperitif, an exhibition dedicated to the 25 years, a 'curiosity hunt', and a jousting tournament. The event is organized by Il Mosaico APS with the Parishes of Peraga and Petrachia, under the patronage of the Veneto Region, the Province of Padua, and the Municipality of Vigonza.
The Da Peraga Castle is located at Via Arrigoni 1, in the hamlet of Peraga, Vigonza, in the province of Padua, along the Padua-Venice axis. Reachable by car with parking available nearby.
The event takes place in June and lasts for four days.
