The commemoration of the ancient pact of friendship between Musile and San Donà di Piave
The Patto Solenne d'Amistà is one of the most representative events in Musile di Piave, a municipality in eastern Veneto in the province of Venice. Every year, on August 7th – the feast day of San Donato – Musile and nearby San Donà di Piave renew an ancient pact of friendship and collaboration, established to reaffirm the ties between two communities separated by the course of the Piave river but united by a common history.
The heart of the commemoration is the solemn ceremony, during which the representatives of the two Municipalities sign a symbolic document sealing the alliance. Tradition dictates that the mayor of San Donà offers Musile two cockerels, a ritual gesture recalling the medieval roots of the event.
Around the official ceremony, the evening transforms into a popular celebration: a medieval dinner, gastronomic stalls, and musical entertainment enliven the centre of Musile. The event, included in the summer programme MusilEstate promoted by the Municipality, attracts citizens and visitors from eastern Veneto every year, eager to relive a page of local history through costumes, music, and conviviality along the banks of the Piave.
The 2026 edition of the Patto Solenne d'Amistà takes place on August 7th in Musile di Piave (VE), on the feast day of San Donato.
The evening begins at 7:00 PM with the ceremony to renew the pact of friendship between Musile di Piave and San Donà di Piave. This is followed by a medieval dinner and musical entertainment by Max Pianta. The event is part of the MusilEstate 2026 programme, the Municipality's summer events review.
