A dive into the Middle Ages of the Lower Piave
Gaudium Sancti Donati is the historical re-enactment organized by the Pro Loco of San Donà di Piave, in the province of Venice, around the ancient medieval legend that links the city to Musile di Piave. According to tradition, the two communities renew a pact of friendship every year with the symbolic exchange of capons: this is the famous Patto d'Amistà (Friendship Pact).
Four evenings of history and celebration
The event is divided into four evenings which include the rite of the Friendship Pact and the Medieval Dinner, a convivial moment that recreates the atmospheres, flavors, and customs of the past. Among costumed figures, musicians, and period settings, Gaudium Sancti Donati celebrates the identity and historical roots of San Donà di Piave.
Linked to the Friendship Pact
The event is closely linked to the re-enactment of the Friendship Pact, the event at the beginning of August that sees the historical procession parade from the Ponte della Vittoria to Musile di Piave for the solemn reading of the Pact and the delivery of the capons.

For 2026 too, the Pro Loco of San Donà di Piave brings Gaudium Sancti Donati back to the city, the medieval re-enactment linked to the Friendship Pact. The event unfolds over four evenings, with the rite of the Friendship Pact and the evocative Medieval Dinner, in a setting that recalls the Middle Ages of the Lower Piave.
