The Patron Saint of the Seaside Village
Santo Stefano al Mare, a small village on the Riviera dei Fiori in the Province of Imperia, annually celebrates its Patron Saint, Saint Stephen the Protomartyr, with an event that blends faith, maritime tradition, and popular celebration. The festival traditionally takes place in the first days of August.
A Day of Celebration from Dawn till Night
The day begins very early with the patronal fair that animates the promenade from the early morning hours, with stalls selling local products. In the evening, the celebration moves to its religious heart with the Holy Mass and the solemn procession that winds through the historic center and along the promenade, accompanied by confraternities and the Musical Band.
Fireworks over the Sea
The grand finale is the traditional fireworks display over the sea, which illuminates the night of Santo Stefano al Mare and concludes a day of celebration deeply tied to the village's identity. It's the perfect opportunity to experience the authentic atmosphere of a Riviera town in the heart of Ligurian summer.
Feast of Saint Stephen — edition 2026
The Patronal Feast of Saint Stephen returns to animate the village in the first days of August. Following the traditional structure, the day includes the patronal fair on the promenade from early morning, the Holy Mass and the procession in the evening through the historic center, and the concluding fireworks display over the sea. - From 7:00 AM — Patronal fair on the promenade

How to get there
By car: A10 motorway, exit at Arma di Taggia or San Lorenzo al Mare, then take the SS1 Aurelia. The festival takes place on the promenade and in the historic center.
