The patron saint of Basiano on the first Sunday of September
The Patronal Feast of Saint Gregory the Great celebrates the patron saint of Basiano, a municipality in the Martesana area, province of Milan, to whom the parish church is dedicated. The festival takes place on the first Sunday of September and enlivens the entire day, from morning to evening.
The program alternates religious and popular moments: the solemn Mass in the church of Saint Gregory the Great, stalls of hobbyists and associations along Via Dante, 'baptism of the saddle' in the parish courtyard, an open day for music courses, sports demonstrations of yoga and Eastern disciplines, a charity raffle with inflatables and bubble soccer in the oratory, and a children's market and street food stalls.
The evening is the most evocative moment, with the evening procession and the fire and stilt-walking show that concludes the festival. An event that brings the community of Basiano together around its patronal tradition, in one of the most heartfelt festivals in the towns of the Martesana.
For 2026, the Patronal Feast of Saint Gregory the Great is expected in Basiano on the first Sunday of September, according to the town's tradition.
The day, as in previous editions, will feature stalls of hobbyists and associations, the solemn Mass in the church of Saint Gregory the Great, activities for children and sports demonstrations, street food stalls, the evening procession, and, to conclude, the fire and stilt-walking show. The detailed hourly program will be announced closer to the festival.
Detailed program to be defined.
