Almost three and a half centuries of patronal feast in the Bergamo plain
The Saint Julian's Festival is the heart of the year in Ciserano, a town in the Bergamo plain in the province of Bergamo, located between Treviglio and Orio al Serio airport. The patronal feast, dedicated to Saint Julian, has its roots in 1678, making it one of the oldest in the area: almost three and a half centuries of history are renewed every September.
The festival spans about ten days, from mid-September until the patron's day on September 21st. The program combines piazza parties, shows, moments of reflection and faith, exhibitions, and entertainment. The patron's day, a Sunday, is the most eventful: market stalls, roving performances, traditional games, a solemn mass with a procession, and in the evening, a fireworks display that delights young and old alike. Among the civic events is the awarding of the "Golden Giulianini" awards, recognizing the commitment of Ciserano's citizens.
Ciserano is situated in the lower Bergamo plain, in the province of Bergamo, in a dynamic area close to major road junctions and the airport. The Saint Julian's Festival, with its long history, is an occasion for the community to reconnect with its identity and traditions.
The Saint Julian's Festival returns to Ciserano in September 2026, following a tradition dating back to 1678. The event will unfold as usual over about ten days, until the patron's day on September 21st, with piazza parties, shows, moments of faith, markets, traditional games, a procession, and a grand final fireworks display. The complete hourly program, with exact dates, will be published by the Municipality of Ciserano and the parish in the weeks preceding the event.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by the Municipality of Ciserano and the parish of Saint Julian closer to the festival.
Based on recent editions, the festival is structured as follows:
Ciserano is located in the Bergamo plain, in the province of Bergamo, easily accessible by car from Treviglio, Zingonia, and Bergamo, and close to Orio al Serio airport. The festival takes place in the town center and main squares.
