The grand flowered biblical floats of Bellusco
The Festival of Saint Justina with the Palio of the Flowered Biblical Floats is the defining event of Bellusco, in the province of Monza and Brianza. Born in 1955, it celebrates the patron saint, Saint Justina (on the second Sunday of September) and features the extraordinary biblical-themed allegorical floats created by the town's districts.
The districts of Bellusco — Bergamo, Dante and Camuzzago, Castello, Garibaldi and San Martino, Cantone and San Nazzaro — have their roots in the ancient 'Corti', the rural settlements on which the town was formed. Each year, they compete in building flowered floats, some up to four meters high, true 'beasts' that require months of work. A jury evaluates the setup, the illuminated effect, and adherence to the biblical theme, decreeing the winning district.
The highlight is the parade of the floats through the town center streets, accompanied by musical bands. The 'night parade', with illuminated floats crossing the town, is particularly evocative. The program also includes the patronal Holy Mass, a funfair, and a fireworks display.
Bellusco, a small municipality in Brianza, transforms into an open-air stage for the festival. The Palio of Saint Justina is one of the most spectacular folk tradition events in the province of Monza and Brianza, capable of uniting faith, floral art, and a spirit of competition among the districts.
The 2026 edition of the Festival of Saint Justina is expected in September, following the tradition that links the festival to the second Sunday of the month and the patron saint, Saint Justina. The districts of Bellusco will once again compete with their biblical flowered floats, up to four meters high.
Precise dates and detailed program will be published by the Palio Committee in the months preceding the event, on the official website.
