About Saint Tiziano Festival

Every January 16th, Oderzo celebrates its patron saint, Saint Tiziano, a bishop who lived in the 7th century and a figure linked to the city's Christian origins. The occasion, deeply felt by the entire community of Oderzo and the Diocese of Vittorio Veneto, is marked by liturgical celebrations in the Cathedral, with a solemn Mass in honor of the patron saint. It is a day of civil and religious celebration that intertwines faith, civic identity, and historical memory.

Saint Tiziano, Patron Saint of Oderzo

Saint Tiziano is the patron saint of Oderzo and the Diocese of Vittorio Veneto, and his feast day falls every year on January 16th. Tiziano was bishop of ancient Opitergium in the 7th century: according to tradition, a student of Bishop Floriano, he was ordained deacon, priest, and then administrator of the diocese, until his death in Oderzo on January 16, 632.

Celebrations in the Cathedral

The heart of the festival is the Solemn Mass in honor of the patron saint, celebrated in the Oderzo Cathedral, where in 1924 a relic of the saint was transferred from the Cathedral of Ceneda in the presence of the Patriarch of Venice. The body of Saint Tiziano rests in the Cathedral of Ceneda, in Vittorio Veneto, in a neo-Byzantine style bronze sarcophagus. On the feast day, the city's cultural institutions observe closure.

Identity and Tradition

More than a large public event, the Festival of the Patron Saint Tiziano is an occasion of strong identity and religious value for the community of Oderzo, in the province of Treviso: a moment when the city recognizes its historical and spiritual roots, linked to the origins of ancient Opitergium.
