The patron of the Isernia village celebrated on September 29th
Sant'Elena Sannita is a small municipality in the province of Isernia, nestled at almost 800 meters above sea level in the heart of inland Molise. The village honors Saint Michael the Archangel as its patron, a devotion rooted in centuries past and particularly cherished by the community.
The patronal feast falls on September 29th, the liturgical feast day of the Archangel. The celebration includes a solemn Mass and a procession of the saint's statue through the village streets, accompanied by the faithful and the usual festivities that liven up the hamlet.
As in many towns in inland Molise, the patronal feast is the highlight of the year when the village comes together: an occasion for faith and fellowship that also attracts returning emigrants. The devotion to Michael connects Sant'Elena Sannita to the broader tradition of Michael worship spread throughout the Apennines and Southern Italy.
In 2026 as well, Sant'Elena Sannita will celebrate its patron saint Saint Michael the Archangel on September 29th. The day, deeply significant for the small Isernia village, will include a solemn Mass and a procession of the saint's statue through the village streets.
The exact times and full program of festivities will be announced by the parish and the Municipality in the weeks preceding the event.
The detailed program for 2026 will be published closer to the feast.
