About Palazzo Collicola Exhibitions

Palazzo Collicola, home to the Spoleto Gallery of Modern Art, renews its program of modern and contemporary art exhibitions each season. The spring 2026 season features four exhibitionsโ€”from a reflection on St. Francis and contemporary art to sculptures by Barry Flanaganโ€”in the rooms of the 18th-century palace overlooking Piazza Collicola, in the heart of Spoleto's historic center.

An 18th-century palace dedicated to art

Palazzo Collicola, an elegant 18th-century residence overlooking Piazza Collicola in Spoleto (province of Perugia), houses the city's Gallery of Modern Art (GAM). Its rooms, spread over several floors, host a permanent collection and a program of temporary exhibitions that make the palace one of the main centers for modern and contemporary art in Umbria.

A multiple exhibition season

Each season, the museum organizes multiple exhibitions simultaneously, intertwining major international names, archival research, and dialogues between ancient art and contemporary languages. The spring 2026 season features four exhibitions ranging from the figure of St. Francis reinterpreted through contemporary art to the bronze sculptures of Barry Flanagan, and author posters from the Experimental Lyric Theatre.

Art in the historic center of Spoleto

Visiting Palazzo Collicola also means immersing yourself in the monumental fabric of Spoleto: the palace is located a short walk from the main venues of the Festival dei Due Mondi, on a route that combines historic architecture and contemporary art in the heart of the Umbrian city.

The spring 2026 exhibition season of the Spoleto Gallery of Modern Art opens on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Palazzo Collicola with four exhibitions displayed on different floors of the palace. The exhibition combines a collective reflection on the legacy of St. Francis, Franco Troiani's research on poor materials, the renowned bronze sculptures of Barry Flanagan, and a graphic tribute to the Experimental Lyric Theatre of Spoleto.
