Sunset concerts amidst the ruins of Peltuinum, along the Tratturo Magno
Paesaggi Sonori is a series born in 2016 that has reimagined the very concept of a music festival: no city stages, but sunset concerts hosted on plateaus, ancient ruins, medieval fortresses, and wild clearings across Abruzzo. The event's subtitle, «Walking towards beauty», perfectly captures its spirit: the locations can only be reached on foot or by sustainable means, turning the anticipation of the concert into a small pilgrimage through nature.
In the municipality of Prata d'Ansidonia, in the province of L'Aquila, the festival chooses the archaeological site of Peltuinum as its backdrop—an ancient Vestini city overlooking the Navelli Plateau and the silhouettes of the Gran Sasso. The site is reached by walking a stretch of the Tratturo Magno, the ancient transhumance route, with a short walk from the parking area. Here, archaeology and landscape merge in one of the most evocative corners of the Abruzzo Apennines, where music resonates at sunset among Roman theaters, walls, and memories.
The programming of Paesaggi Sonori weaves together singer-songwriters, electronic music, experimental folk, and world music, featuring both Italian and international artists. Over the years, the ruins of Peltuinum have hosted high-caliber performances, attracting an attentive and curious audience to Abruzzo, willing to set out on a journey to experience a concert in an unrepeatable setting.
More than just a simple concert lineup, Paesaggi Sonori invites you to a complete experience: the silence of the walk, the light of the sunset, and the relationship between sound and territory. Spectators are advised to bring a mat or blanket to sit on, comfortable clothing, and a bag for their waste, out of respect for the environment. It is a model of sustainable cultural tourism that enhances the villages and inland landscapes of Abruzzo.
On August 10, 2026, the archaeological area of Peltuinum in Prata d'Ansidonia will host the «Live Sunset» concert by Anna von Hausswolff, an Abruzzo stop on her tour supporting her new album «ICONOCLASTS». The Swedish artist, known for her use of the pipe organ and a style that blends emotional intensity with experimentation, will perform at sunset among the walls of the ancient Vestini city.
Doors open at 5:00 PM, with the concert starting at 6:00 PM. The site is accessible exclusively on foot, with a short walk from the parking area along the Tratturo Magno.
As part of the same 2026 edition, the festival offers other sunset concerts in Abruzzo, including IOSONOUNCANE on July 12, 2026, at Forca di Castiglione.
The archaeological area of Peltuinum is located in the municipality of Prata d'Ansidonia (AQ), along Via Principe Umberto. Access to the concert site is exclusively on foot, with about a 10-minute walk along a dirt path from the parking area, located a few hundred meters away.
We recommend bringing a mat or blanket to sit on, wearing comfortable clothing and footwear, and carrying a bag to take your waste back down with you. Admission is free for children under 10.
Tickets are on sale through the Ciaotickets network. The full program, schedule, and updates are available on the official website paesaggisonori.com and on the festival's social media channels.
