The Easter concert by the Terento music band in the Puster Valley
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Osterkonzert der Musikkapelle Terenten is the annual Easter concert performed by the music band of Terento/Terenten, a small mountain village in the Puster Valley, in the province of Bolzano, in the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Every spring, the band of the so-called Sonnendorf (the "sun village") gathers its musicians in the local gymnasium (Turnhalle) for an evening entirely dedicated to the band repertoire. It is one of the most anticipated events in the local calendar, alongside the Kirchtag of Birnsonntag.
Founded in 1953, the Musikkapelle Terenten now counts about fifty musicians and serves as a cornerstone of the village's cultural life and traditions. The ensemble accompanies the community's main religious and secular celebrations and rehearses in a modern hall inaugurated in 2019, built alongside the new fire station. The artistic direction is entrusted to Kapellmeisterin Monika Steger, while the association is led by Obmann Lukas Volgger.
The Easter concert is designed as a varied and pleasant listening experience, balancing demanding pieces with light and well-known melodies. Over the years, the program has included concert marches, original band compositions, works by composers such as Gottfried Veit, Vittorio Monti, and Pavel Stanek, light music arrangements, and evocative pieces inspired by European cities and landmarks. The audience thus discovers all the facets of the band in a handful of tracks: tradition, ensemble discipline, and a flair for entertainment.
Terento is a typical mountain village in the German-speaking area of South Tyrol, nestled among the sunny meadows of the plateau overlooking the Puster Valley. In a context where Blasmusik (brass band music) is part of every community's identity, the Osterkonzert represents much more than a simple concert: it is a moment for the village to gather, an opportunity to support the band, and a way to kick off the new season of activities after winter.
The concert takes place in the Terento gymnasium, usually during the Easter period, in the evening. Admission is traditionally by voluntary donation (freiwillige Spende). The dates and program for each edition are announced annually on the official channels of the Musikkapelle Terenten.
The 2026 edition of the Osterkonzert der Musikkapelle Terenten has not yet been officially announced. The Easter concert of the Terento/Terenten band is traditionally held in the village gymnasium during the Easter period; the exact dates and the program of pieces are published every year by the Musikkapelle Terenten on its channels (website, Instagram, and Facebook) in the weeks leading up to the event.
Terento/Terenten can be reached by car from the Puster Valley (SS49) by driving up towards the plateau; the nearest train station is in Chienes or Vandoies, on the Puster Valley line, with connecting bus services.
The concert takes place in the Terento gymnasium (Turnhalle).
