Market exhibition of botanical biodiversity and excellent craftsmanship at Villa Pallavicino
Ortocolto is a market exhibition dedicated to floral and horticultural biodiversity and excellent craftsmanship held in the enchanting setting of Villa Pallavicino, a 16th-century residence in Busseto, in the province of Parma. The spring edition transforms the historic garden, the Piazzale delle Scuderie, and the ground floor of the villa into a journey through plants, colors, and scents, designed for gardening enthusiasts and families.
The heart of the event is the selection of rare botanical varieties, organic flowers, vegetables, and fruits offered by specialized nursery growers. Alongside collections of uncommon plants, there are floral arrangements, creative solutions for the garden and vegetable patch, and expert advice for home greenery care.
Ortocolto also showcases excellent craftsmanship and typical agri-food products representing the region's biodiversity, featuring DOP and DOC specialties that tell the story of Emilia-Romagna's rich gastronomic tradition. Artists and master craftsmen present original creations, from ceramics to weaving, in a dialogue between nature and manual skill.
The program is enriched by themed conferences on gardens and garden therapy, hands-on workshops for floral arrangement, and fun activities designed for children. A refreshment area with tables and seating is available, and pets are also welcome.
A visit to Ortocolto naturally connects with the cultural heritage of the Municipality of Busseto, the birthplace of Giuseppe Verdi: the Renata Tebaldi Museum, dedicated to the famous soprano, is located in the Corte delle Scuderie of Villa Pallavicino. An opportunity to combine a passion for greenery with the discovery of the Bassa Parmense region.
