Oratorio Cup: Sports born in the parish

The Oratorio Cup is a major sporting and educational event promoted by CSI Rome (Italian Sports Centre - Rome Committee), dedicated to the parishes, oratories, and religious institutions of the Diocese of Rome. Originally launched as a grassroots soccer tournament, it has evolved over the years into a cornerstone of the capital's local sports scene, blending competition with education and community life. The 22nd edition, for the 2025-2026 season, boasts record-breaking numbers: over 200 teams, approximately 2,600 athletes, and more than 3,000 supporters from across the province of Rome.

The finals at Salaria Sport Village

Following a long season of group stages played on parish fields throughout Rome, the tournament culminates in the finals at the Salaria Sport Village, located in the northern quadrant of the city. The final stages of the 2026 edition will take place over two weekends, May 9-10 and May 16-17, 2026, featuring over a hundred matches and dedicated award ceremonies for every category. It is a moment when hundreds of families gather around the pitches, turning the final days into a true celebration of diocesan sport.

A tournament for all ages

The Oratorio Cup is organized into numerous categories, from the youngest Under-8s to Under-17s, with the addition of Open and Amateur categories for older participants. For the youth divisions, the format is that of a multi-sport tournament: alongside futsal, there is room for dodgeball, handball, basketball, flag rugby, technical and motor skill circuits, soccer tennis, and the crossball challenge. Female participation is encouraged, with the possibility of forming mixed teams and, in the younger categories, entirely female squads.

Education before results

What sets the Oratorio Cup apart is its focus on personal development. Alongside the matches, CSI Rome provides training paths for managers, educators, and coaches, and promotes the role of the educator-referee, where team members are called upon to officiate certain matches after specific training on the rules. At the end of every match, the so-called fourth half takes place—a convivial moment where teams come together to share the spirit of friendship that drives the tournament.

As an expression of grassroots sport in the Lazio Region and specifically the Municipality of Rome, the Oratorio Cup represents a vision of sport as a tool for growth and social cohesion. The event is supported by institutional and sporting partners and enjoys the patronage of local organizations. For thousands of young people in Roman parishes, it is the most anticipated event of the year: an opportunity to experience sports together while learning the value of respect, teamwork, and shared celebration.
