The cellars of Torgiano open their doors
Cantine Aperte is the event that invented wine tourism in Italy: on the last weekend of May, member wineries of the Movimento Turismo del Vino open their doors to the public for visits, tastings, and experiences among the vineyards. In Umbria, the event involves over forty wineries, from Montefalco to Orvieto, from Trasimeno to Assisi, with Torgiano among the protagonists.
A village in the province of Perugia, Torgiano is one of Umbria's most renowned wine regions, home to prestigious denominations and the famous Wine Museum. During Cantine Aperte, visitors can step inside the local wineries, including Terre Margaritelli, to discover production processes, taste local labels, and meet the producers directly.
The Umbrian program offers tastings, guided tours, picnics in the vineyard, dinners with the winemaker, and e-bike tours, as well as activities for families. Cantine Aperte is also an occasion for solidarity: part of the proceeds from the tasting kit is traditionally donated to charitable initiatives.
The 2026 edition of Cantine Aperte, the 33rd, will be held on May 30 and 31 throughout Umbria, with over forty member wineries of the Movimento Turismo del Vino opening their doors from Montefalco to Torgiano, from Orvieto to Assisi, Bevagna, Umbertide, and Lake Trasimeno. In Torgiano, visitors can discover the local wineries, including Terre Margaritelli, with tastings and dedicated activities.
Throughout Umbria, on both days, member wineries will offer tastings, guided tours, picnics in the vineyard, dinners with the winemaker, and e-bike tours, as well as activities for families. In Torgiano, the Terre Margaritelli winery is participating. The complete program for individual wineries and reservations are available on the portal mtvumbria.it.
Torgiano can be reached by car from the E45 (Torgiano-Bettona exit), a few kilometers from Perugia. Nearest airport: Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi.
To participate, purchase the tasting kit (glass and carrying pouch included). Reservations for individual wineries and experiences can be made on the official portal mtvumbria.it.
