A full day of electronic, rap, and live music on the beach in Catania
The One Day Music Festival has become the definitive musical ritual for May 1st in Catania: a single, long day of music that brings the Afrobar on the Playa to life along the city's coastline. From morning until late at night, thousands of young people from all over Sicily gather just meters from the water to dance and listen to some of the hottest names on the Italian and international scene, all with a view of Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea.
The formula that made the festival famous is its three stages, each with a different musical direction, allowing the audience to move from a techno DJ set to a rap concert in just a few steps:
One Day Music was born in 2009 with a purely rock imprint, later progressively broadening its horizons toward electronica and urban music. Edition after edition, participation has grown steadily, leading to numerous sold-out events in recent years and crowds that have repeatedly exceeded tens of thousands, making it one of the most important musical events in Eastern Sicily.
Beyond the music, the festival offers numerous food and drink areas and social spaces spread along the beach. The setting of the Playa, with its sand and sea acting as a natural backdrop, is an integral part of the experience and distinguishes One Day Music from other large musical gatherings: here, you literally dance with your feet in the sand, during one of the symbolic days that kicks off the Catania summer.
On May 1st, 2026, the Afrobar on the Playa in Catania hosted a new edition of the One Day Music Festival, featuring the event's classic three stages and over twenty artists on the bill.
On the SunDance stage, dedicated to techno and electronica, names such as East End Dubs, Nikolina, Ben Sterling, Luca Agnelli, Cuartero, Estella Boersma, Twenty Six, and Santรธs took turns. The Spring Arena, the heart of live acts and rap, featured headliners like Tony Effe, Nitro, Glocky, Tancredi, Ele A, and Damianito, while the Vulkano Stage provided space for local artists and emerging talent from the region.
Tickets were sold online via TicketSms, and the day concluded with a great turnout, consistent with the tens of thousands of attendees seen in recent editions.
