Leivi celebrates its extra virgin olive oil in the Tigullio hills
The Olive Oil Festival is the most important event in Leivi, a small hilly municipality behind Chiavari, in the metropolitan city of Genoa. For centuries, Leivi has been dedicated to olive growing and produces a prized extra virgin olive oil, the absolute star of this festival that has been running for over thirty years.
For a few days, the recreational-sports area of San Bartolomeo, in Via Selaschi, hosts food stands, tastings, and in-depth sessions dedicated to olive oil and the local area. The heart of the event is the Leivi Prize, a competition that awards the best olive grove, and conferences dedicated to the protection of the olive-growing landscape.
The festival is recognized as an Authentic Ligurian Event by the Liguria Region, confirming its identity value. It often accompanies the summer music review "Notti tra le note", which enriches the calendar with concerts on summer evenings. An opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the Tigullio, amidst hills, olive trees, and rural traditions.
The 2026 edition of the Olive Oil Festival renews the summer appointment in Leivi with its extra virgin olive oil. The event, recognized as an Authentic Ligurian Event, is held at the San Bartolomeo recreational-sports area, in Via Selaschi.
The traditional ingredients of the festival are confirmed: food stands, tastings, conferences dedicated to the protection of olive groves, and the Leivi Prize for the best olive grove. The precise dates and detailed program will be communicated in the weeks preceding the event.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Municipality in the weeks preceding the event. The festival will follow the established structure: opening of food stands in the San Bartolomeo area, tastings of olive oil and local products, a conference on olive growing and landscape, and the award ceremony for the Leivi Prize for the best olive grove.
