The international open water swimming race on the Adriatic Sea
In the heart of the Riviera Romagnola, in the municipality of Cattolica (Province of Rimini, Emilia-Romagna), Oceanman has become one of the most anticipated events of the season for open water swimming enthusiasts. As the Italian stage of an international circuit that touches dozens of locations worldwide, the event brings hundreds of athletes from many different nations to the Adriatic coast, transforming the seaside town into a large sports village for an entire May weekend.
The beauty of Oceanman is that it's not just for professionals. The program includes various distances designed for every level: the queen race, Oceanman 10 km, the Half Oceanman 5 km, the Sprint 2 km, the Oceankids for the younger ones, and the Oceanteams relay. There's space for both competitive athletes and amateur swimmers because here โ as the organizers emphasize โ the important thing is not winning, but participating.
The event's headquarters are located on the free beach in front of Piazza del Tramonto, where all races start and finish, in the port area of Cattolica. A true festive atmosphere is created all around, fostering friendships and connections that begin in the water and continue on shore, among families, companions, and spectators.
The Cattolica edition has grown year by year, attracting swimmers from about fifty nations across all continents. The event is made possible thanks to the support of the Municipality of Cattolica, the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Riviera hotel association, the port authority, and the local nautical club: an example of how sports can also become an opportunity for tourism promotion for the entire Riviera Romagnola.
The new edition of Oceanman Cattolica confirmed the event's success, with approximately 800 registered athletes from about fifty nations, including all major European countries as well as participants from the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, Indonesia, India, Qatar, and Ghana.
The program was spread over two days, with shorter races and youth events on Saturday and long-distance races on Sunday. The event was confirmed as the first Italian stage of the Oceanman circuit, supported by the Municipality of Cattolica and the Emilia-Romagna Region.
All races start and finish on the free beach of Piazza del Tramonto.
