About Nutri-menti

In Ghiffa, on the Piedmontese shore of Lake Maggiore, Nutri-menti. From Seed to Fruit is a cultural festival dedicated to biodiversity, traditional agriculture, and environmental conservation. Promoted by the Rete Musei Alto Verbano, it combines photographic exhibitions, expert talks, children's workshops, and theatrical performances, hosted between the Sacro Monte della SS. Trinità and the Hat Museum. A weekend that weaves together nature, local history, and reflection on the future of the rural landscape.

A festival on Lake Maggiore between nature and culture

Nutri-menti. From Seed to Fruit is a series of meetings and a traveling exhibition held in Ghiffa, a small town in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province overlooking the Piedmontese shore of Lake Maggiore. The event is dedicated to biodiversity, traditional agriculture, and environmental protection, themes explored through a language that blends photography, science, storytelling, and live performance.

Organizers

The festival is promoted by the Rete Musei Alto Verbano as part of a program supported by the Unione Lago Maggiore and the Fondazione comunitaria del VCO. The Ghiffa edition is organized in collaboration with the Ente di Gestione dei Sacri Monti and with the support of the Municipality of Ghiffa, which provides two of the town's iconic landmarks.

The Two Venues

Events are distributed between the Sacro Monte della SS. Trinità, a UNESCO World Heritage site nestled in a nature reserve overlooking the lake, and the Hat Museum (Museo dell'Arte del Cappello), which preserves the memory of the local manufacturing tradition. Two distinct spaces that engage in a dialogue about the bond between humanity, the land, and the landscape.

What to Expect

  • The photographic exhibition "From Seed to Fruit" by Tatiana Ferrario, set up at the Sacro Monte and open for several weeks after the inauguration
  • The "Night of the Archives" at the Hat Museum, featuring historical postcards and photographs of the rural landscape of the Alto Verbano
  • Talks with botanists and experts on plants and biodiversity
  • Workshops and readings for children, designed to engage families
  • Evening musical and theatrical performances, including a play dedicated to the botanist Nikolaj Vavilov and his seed bank

Why It Is Worth Visiting

Nutri-menti combines the quality of a curated cultural program with the beauty of a unique landscape. For those visiting Lake Maggiore, it is an opportunity to discover Ghiffa away from the more crowded tourist circuits, during a weekend that invites reflection on the value of biodiversity and the future of the Piedmontese territory.
