A series of meetings and a photographic exhibition on biodiversity, agriculture, and the environment in Ghiffa
Nutri-menti. From Seed to Fruit is a series of meetings and a traveling exhibition held in Ghiffa, a small town in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province overlooking the Piedmontese shore of Lake Maggiore. The event is dedicated to biodiversity, traditional agriculture, and environmental protection, themes explored through a language that blends photography, science, storytelling, and live performance.
The festival is promoted by the Rete Musei Alto Verbano as part of a program supported by the Unione Lago Maggiore and the Fondazione comunitaria del VCO. The Ghiffa edition is organized in collaboration with the Ente di Gestione dei Sacri Monti and with the support of the Municipality of Ghiffa, which provides two of the town's iconic landmarks.
Events are distributed between the Sacro Monte della SS. Trinità, a UNESCO World Heritage site nestled in a nature reserve overlooking the lake, and the Hat Museum (Museo dell'Arte del Cappello), which preserves the memory of the local manufacturing tradition. Two distinct spaces that engage in a dialogue about the bond between humanity, the land, and the landscape.
Nutri-menti combines the quality of a curated cultural program with the beauty of a unique landscape. For those visiting Lake Maggiore, it is an opportunity to discover Ghiffa away from the more crowded tourist circuits, during a weekend that invites reflection on the value of biodiversity and the future of the Piedmontese territory.
The 2026 edition of Nutri-menti was held in Ghiffa from June 5 to 7, spread across two venues: the Hat Museum and the Sacro Monte della SS. Trinità. The program intertwined photography, science, and performance around the theme of the relationship between humans, seeds, and the rural landscape of the Alto Verbano.
The photographic exhibition "From Seed to Fruit" remained open during museum hours for the following weeks.
Ghiffa is located on the SS34 state road of Lake Maggiore, between Verbania and Cannobio. By car from the A26 motorway, take the Verbania-Gravellona Toce exit, then follow signs for Cannobio. By train, arrive at Verbania-Pallanza station, then take a bus or taxi. Regular ferry services connect Ghiffa to other towns on the lake.
Events take place at the Sacro Monte della SS. Trinità (accessible by car, with parking available) and at the Hat Museum in the town center.
Most events are free of charge. Reservations may be required for workshops and guided tours: information is available from the Unione del Lago Maggiore, tel. +39 0323 738231.
