The San Lorenzo festival in Novagli
The Novagli Festival is the village festival of the Novagli hamlet in Montichiari, in the Province of Brescia, linked to the feast of San Lorenzo. For about ten days at the beginning of August, the hamlet comes alive with a great popular festival that attracts residents and visitors from all over the area.
The Donkey Palio
The heart of the festival is the famous Donkey Palio, the historic and hard-fought challenge between the four districts of Novagli: Sera, Mattina, Campagna, and Trivellini. A jovial and exciting competition that puts the pride of the districts at stake and attracts a large audience each year along the route, in an atmosphere of healthy local rivalry and fun.
Food, music, and solidarity
Throughout the festival, food stalls are open, while evenings are enlivened by DJs and show orchestras. There are also inflatable games for the little ones. The event also has a charitable purpose: the entire proceeds are donated to the local parish of San Lorenzo, confirming the strong link between the festival and the community of Novagli.

The 2026 edition of the Novagli Festival enlivens the Montichiari hamlet from August 1 to 10, around the San Lorenzo festival. Food stalls open throughout, musical evenings with DJs and show orchestras (August 1-3 and 7-10), inflatable games for children. The highlight is the Donkey Palio, the hard-fought challenge between the districts of Sera, Mattina, Campagna, and Trivellini, scheduled for Sunday, August 3, at 6:30 PM. All proceeds are donated to the San Lorenzo parish.
