The food and wine nights of the Città del Vino in the heart of Tollo's wine country

The Notti del Vino in Tollo are the summer highlight where the town of Tollo, in the province of Chieti, joins the national Notti del Vino festival promoted by the Città del Vino Association. Every August, the historic center comes alive with tasting stalls, music, and performances, marking one of the most anticipated Abruzzo stops in a circuit that involves hundreds of wine-producing towns across Italy.
Tollo is a historic name in Abruzzo viticulture: nestled in the hills of the Chieti province, just a few kilometers from the Trabocchi Coast, the town is deeply tied to the cultivation of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and Trebbiano. It is no coincidence that the event brings together the main local producers: past editions have featured Cantina Tollo, Citra, Vigneti Radica, Feudo Antico, and Micace, five wineries that share the region's oenological vocation through their wines.
The heart of the evenings is the food and wine trail set up at the Belvedere of Via Case Nuove, overlooking the square dedicated to the Fallen of Nassirya. Visitors can enjoy guided tastings with food pairings curated by the AIS (Italian Sommelier Association), savoring traditional Abruzzese dishes alongside the wines. The national Notti del Vino format was created to celebrate wine culture in all its forms: history, art, tradition, and territory.
Beyond the tastings, the Notti del Vino in Tollo offer live music—ranging from jazz to folk—and artistic and theatrical performances that animate the streets of the center. The event is deeply intertwined with local traditions: the historical re-enactment of the Saracen invasion comes to life during these evenings, with the famous Battle between Turks and Christians lighting up the village. There are also moments dedicated to younger crowds, with dance, ethnic, and revival music nights that continue late into the night.
The Notti del Vino are part of the summer calendar of Tollo, which brings together patronal feasts, re-enactments, musical shows, and food and wine appointments throughout the season. For wine lovers and those looking to discover the authentic soul of the Abruzzo hills, this event is the perfect opportunity to combine the discovery of great labels with the conviviality of a village that makes wine its true identity.
The 2026 edition of the Notti del Vino in Tollo is announced as part of the municipal summer calendar "Sorsi d'Estate – The rhythm of history, the taste of meeting," which dedicates the month of August to wine culture. As in previous editions, the event is expected to bring together local wineries for a tasting trail in the historic center, accompanied by music and shows. The precise dates and detailed program for the 2026 edition have not yet been released: we recommend checking for updates on the official channels of the Municipality of Tollo and the Città del Vino Association.
