The night of sales with the city center closed to traffic
The Notte dei Saldi is one of the most anticipated events of the Trieste summer. Promoted by the Municipality of Trieste as part of the summer events plan, it marks the start of the summer sales by transforming the city center into an open-air stage, with shops open until late at night and the main streets pedestrianized for the occasion.
For one evening, Corso Italia, via Mazzini, and the other shopping streets in the center are closed to traffic, from mid-afternoon until late at night. The space freed from cars fills with people, illuminated shop windows, and scattered performances: street artists, tango performances, acrobatic acts, flash mobs, live music, and DJ sets liven up every corner.
The event combines commerce, social life, and tourism: it's an opportunity to take advantage of the first sales offers while strolling through a pedestrianized and festive city center, amidst concerts, dance, and itinerant entertainment. A format that the Municipality has relaunched with dedicated investment in major summer events, to enhance city commerce and Trieste's appeal.
Overlooking the sea and full of historic cafes, Trieste experiences the Notte dei Saldi as a collective ritual: an evening when residents and visitors rediscover the pleasure of experiencing the city on foot, amidst lights, music, and the warm air of the Adriatic summer.
The Notte dei Saldi 2026 is scheduled for Saturday, July 4th, funded by the municipal council as part of the summer events plan (total allocation of approximately โฌ200,000 for the season). The center of Trieste will be closed to traffic, and shops will remain open until late evening, officially kicking off the summer sales.
Along Corso Italia, via Mazzini, and the city's shopping streets, a program of street artists, tango, acrobatics, flash mobs, and DJ sets is planned.
The detailed program for the evening will be published by the Municipality in the days preceding the event. The usual structure includes:
