Theatre, music, cinema, and dance in the most evocative locations of Trieste
Festival Approdi is one of the most original cultural events of the Trieste summer. Its formula is simple and fascinating: to "land" in different and evocative places in the city โ historic courtyards, museum gardens, terraces overlooking the sea, reclaimed spaces in the Old Port โ transforming them into open-air stages. Under the artistic direction of Lorenzo Acquaviva, the festival merges theatre, music, cinema, and dance in continuous dialogue with the audience.
In 2026, Approdi reaches its tenth edition, an important anniversary for a festival created to bring culture outside traditional theatres. The chosen theme, "Searching for Humanity", runs through the entire programme: for the artistic director, culture is a "human detonator", capable of making us reflect on our common humanity in complex times.
The festival venues are an integral part of the experience: the Orto Lapidario and the Sartorio Museum, the Muzio de Tommasini Public Garden, Warehouse 26 and Sala Luttazzi in the Old Port, the terrace of the Circolo della Marina Mercantile. The programme alternates poetic readings, civil monologues, spoken theatre, jazz concerts, film screenings, and a stand-up comedy evening that has become a much-anticipated event. Among the protagonists of recent editions are names from Italian theatre and investigative journalism.
Festival Approdi is organised by the association Vitamina T in co-organisation with the Municipality of Trieste, with the support of the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Fondazione Casali. A project that enhances Trieste's architectural and landscape heritage, making it a vibrant setting for theatre and culture.
For its tenth edition, Festival Approdi 2026 chooses the theme "Searching for Humanity" and unfolds its programme between June and July in symbolic locations of Trieste. From the Orto Lapidario to the Sartorio Museum, from the Public Garden to Warehouse 26 in the Old Port, the shows alternate readings, monologues, jazz concerts, cinema, and comedy in a continuous "navigation" through the city's cultural souls.
