The Openstage festival bringing young talent to the high-tech stages of Rome's Municipio XIV

Note di Periferia - Rome Openstage is a music festival dedicated to emerging artists, enlivening the suburban neighborhoods of Municipio XIV in Rome, Lazio. The project was created to take live music beyond the traditional circuits of the historic center, turning public spaces in the capital's northwest suburbs into accessible, widespread stages for everyone to enjoy.
The initiative is part of the broader Openstage project, incubated by the Officine Buone O.D.V. association and born from an idea by university students. The heart of the format is the high-tech stageโa smart totem equipped with mixers, speakers, and intelligent sensors installed in public squares. Artists simply register and book their slot via a free app, choose their date and time, and step onto the stage to perform. It is a model of social innovation that breaks down barriers to the music scene, providing local talent with professional equipment at no cost.
Municipio XIV includes neighborhoods and districts such as Primavalle, Torrevecchia, Ottavia, Monte Mario, and Balduina: densely populated areas full of creative energy, often far from the spotlight of the city's main cultural offerings. Note di Periferia specifically chooses these locations for its stages, transforming neighborhood squares into meeting points for musicians, bands, and audiences of all ages.
The festival was funded under the Roma Creativa 365 - Culture all year round grant, a program through which Rome Capital supports cultural activities across the entire territory, from the center to the suburbs. Specifically, the project falls under the section dedicated to urban suburban revitalization, also supported by the National Fund for Live Performance of the Ministry of Culture.
Note di Periferia represents a key piece of a wider movement in Rome and Lazio that aims to make culture a truly accessible asset, bringing it to citizens' doorsteps and empowering neighborhood communities.
Official dates and a detailed program for Note di Periferia 2026 have not yet been announced. The project, linked to the Openstage format and high-tech stages for emerging artists in Rome's Municipio XIV, was funded for the 2025 cycle under Roma Creativa 365. We recommend checking for updates on the official channels of Officine Buone O.D.V. and Openstage before planning your attendance.
