A historical re-enactment of King Victor Emmanuel II's royal hunts in the upper Orco Valley.
Noasca da Re is an annual event that revives the history of Noasca, a small mountain municipality in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, tucked away in the upper Orco Valley at the foot of the Gran Paradiso National Park. The re-enactment is dedicated to the visits of King Victor Emmanuel II, who famously organized his royal ungulate hunts in these mountains, staying in high-altitude hunting lodges.
From the early hours of the morning, the narrow cobblestone streets of the center fill with costumed groups: vintage park rangers, shepherds wrapped in wool garments, and women in embroidered shawls recreate the atmosphere of yesteryear. The heart of the re-enactment is the Gere Sopra district, which transforms into the "Ancient Village": here, the 19th century comes alive, reflecting the era when the sovereign would ascend into the upper Orco Valley, complete with demonstrations of ancient crafts and scenes of daily life.
The day weaves together exhibitions of vintage photographs and historical panels, the preparation of traditional Piedmontese dishes, guided tours to discover the village's landmarks—from the medieval bridge to the church—and convivial moments in the local inns. The event is part of a broader regional development project promoted by the Gran Paradiso National Park Authority and the Noasca Pro Loco, involving schools, cultural associations, and the municipal administration.
Located about sixty kilometers from Turin, Noasca da Re is the perfect opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the Piedmontese Alps: an event that blends historical memory, mountain identity, and hospitality within a natural setting of rare beauty. It is an appointment designed for families, history buffs, and anyone wishing to experience the charm of Gran Paradiso away from the main tourist flows.
The 2026 edition of Noasca da Re took place in a winter version, enlivening the village of Noasca, in the upper Orco Valley, with a day entirely dedicated to local history and traditions.
From the early morning, the village streets were populated by costumed groups: vintage park rangers, shepherds in wool garments, and women in embroidered shawls. The event featured exhibitions of vintage photographs and historical panels, the preparation of traditional Piedmontese dishes, and guided tours to the village's landmarks, from the medieval bridge to the church, with convivial moments in the local inns.
The 2026 winter edition consisted of a day of re-enactment and activities throughout the village of Noasca:
Noasca is located in the upper Orco Valley, about 60 km from Turin. By car, follow the signs for Cuorgnè / Pont Canavese from Turin, then take the SS460 del Gran Paradiso. By train, travel to Pont Canavese (Canavesana line), then take the local bus towards the Orco Valley.
Admission to the event and the re-enactments is generally free; some activities (such as dinners in the royal camp) may require a fee and booking.

We recommend comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for the village's cobblestone streets and guided paths; in winter, bring appropriate mountain cold-weather gear.
