The nomadic festival of electronic music and sound experimentation in the Val d'Ossola
Nextones is one of the most original events on the international music scene, taking place in Crevoladossola, in the hamlet of Oira, in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, Piedmont. Its epicenter is Tones Teatro Natura, a former granite quarry converted into one of Europe's most significant settings for exploring space, nature, and contemporary sound practices: two stages carved into the stone host immersive performances specifically designed for the site.
Founded in 2013, Nextones is an international festival dedicated to research and experimentation in contemporary music, in dialogue with performing and audiovisual arts. Its identity is that of a nomadic festival: the program is not limited to the quarry but expands into several symbolic and unconventional locations in the valley, involving the public in an itinerant and deeply immersive journey.
Over the years, Nextones has brought some of the most relevant names in electronic, experimental, and avant-garde music to Val d'Ossola, attracting an audience from all over Europe. The festival combines live acts, DJ sets, and site-specific audiovisual productions with a daytime program of installation performances and listening sessions in natural settings, offering an experience that goes far beyond a traditional concert.
More than just a musical event, Nextones is an experiment in symbiosis between nature, audiovisual arts, and sound research. The backdrop of Val d'Ossola, with its mountains, forests, and waters, is not merely a setting but an integral part of the festival's dramaturgy, balancing artistic avant-garde and environmental awareness to make every edition unrepeatable.
The 2026 edition of Nextones confirms the nomadic festival formula, expanding across five symbolic locations in Val d'Ossola. The evening and night program at Tones Teatro Natura engages with an articulated daytime program of site-specific performances among thermal baths, medieval villages, and geological sites. The international line-up ranges from techno to audiovisual experimentation, with major names from the European electronic scene joined by research projects specifically designed for the valley's locations.
The Nextones Campsite program is curated by Radio Banda Larga.
Tones Teatro Natura is located at Via Valle Formazza 37, in the hamlet of Oira di Crevoladossola (VB). By car, take the A26 motorway to Gravellona Toce, then the SS33 del Sempione expressway towards Domodossola. By train, the reference station is Domodossola, on the international Milan-Simplon-Brig line, just a few kilometers from the festival.
Tickets and passes (4-day pass with camping included, 3-day pass, 2-day pass, and day tickets) are available for pre-sale on the DICE platform. For information: [email protected] or [email protected] (WhatsApp +39 351 8458646).
The festival is spread across multiple locations in the valley: we recommend arriving with comfortable shoes for the nature trails and packing layered clothing for the evenings at altitude. The Nextones Campsite offers the opportunity to stay on-site with a dedicated program.
