The Loner's fan festival with live music, books, and West Coast culture
Neil Young Day is one of the longest-running and most heartfelt events dedicated to the music of Neil Young and the collective Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young in Italy. Born in 1991 between the provinces of Reggio Emilia and Modena on the initiative of a group of enthusiasts gathered around Giampaolo Corradini, the event annually celebrates the spirit of the American west coast of the late sixties and early seventies, made of guitars, vocal harmonies, and singer-songwriter songs.
For years, the gathering changed locations among the towns of Emilia, until it landed in 2025 in Castelnuovo Rangone, in the province of Modena, where it now takes place within the summer review Note al Lennon. The setting is Parco John Lennon, a green space in the heart of the town, with the nearby Chiosco La Nena serving as the stage for acoustic moments. The choice of Castelnuovo Rangone, a small municipality in the Modenese plain, has given new continuity to an event that continues to attract fans from all over the region and beyond.
Neil Young Day is not just a tribute concert: it is a festival that intertwines live music, book presentations, photographs, and stalls with vinyl records, CDs, and memorabilia related to the world of CSNY. The day is divided into two parts: an intimate acoustic afternoon, and an electric evening on the main stage. Among the regular performers are bands from Emilia and groups that re-propose the repertoire of Neil Young and Crazy Horse along with original songs.
A distinctive feature of the event is its convivial and charitable dimension: the evening dinner, with typical local products such as gnocco and tigelle, is prepared by volunteers from the Pubblica Assistenza of Castelnuovo Rangone, and the proceeds are donated to charity for the local area. Admission to the entire day is free.
Included in the calendar of the Note al Lennon review and supported by the Municipality of Castelnuovo Rangone, Neil Young Day has now established itself as a reference point for those who love the Loner's music and the American singer-songwriter tradition. It is an opportunity to listen to good music outdoors, browse books and records, and meet a community of fans that has endured for over thirty years.
For Neil Young Day 2026, the day opens at 5:00 PM with afternoon acoustic sets and continues in the evening with electric concerts on the main stage of Parco John Lennon. The formula combining music, conviviality, and solidarity spirit is confirmed, with the charity dinner prepared by volunteers from the Pubblica Assistenza of Castelnuovo Rangone.
The event is conceived by Giampaolo Corradini in collaboration with Antonio Boschi (A-Z Blues) and with the technical support of Muzik Station, as part of the summer review Note al Lennon supported by the Municipality of Castelnuovo Rangone.
