The Christmas festivities in Vigevano between an ice rink, nativity scenes, and markets in Piazza Ducale
Natale sotto la Torre is the calendar of Christmas festivities for the Municipality of Vigevano, in the Province of Pavia. For about six weeks, from late November until Epiphany, the scenic Piazza Ducale and the spaces of the Sforza Castleโincluding the evocative route of the Strada Sotterranea Nuova (New Underground Road)โhost a packed program of events involving the entire historic centre.
Among the most beloved attractions is the ice rink set up in the Castle courtyard, open daily and suitable for children and adults. The Strada Sotterranea Nuova hosts the "Presepi in Castello" (Nativity Scenes in the Castle) exhibition, featuring dioramas and large nativity scenes created by enthusiasts and artisans, including some of considerable size.
Piazza Ducale becomes the pulsating heart of the festivities, with the characteristic Christmas market and illuminations lighting up the historic arcades, while the town centre hosts artisan stalls and the Castle hosts exhibitions and cultural events. The calendar includes small concerts, family activities, and the closing event with Befana, marking the end of the holiday season.
For the 2026-2027 festivities, the usual return of Natale sotto la Torre is expected, the Christmas program of the Municipality of Vigevano that enlivens Piazza Ducale and the Sforza Castle. The exact dates and event calendar will be published shortly before the holiday period.
The detailed program for the 2026-2027 edition will be announced by the Municipality of Vigevano closer to the holidays. The usual structure of the program includes:
From late November to Epiphany (2026-2027 dates to be confirmed; for the 2025-2026 edition: from November 29, 2025, to January 11, 2026).
Piazza Ducale, Sforza Castle, and historic centre, Vigevano (PV).
Vigevano is connected by train to Milan and Pavia; Piazza Ducale and the Castle are in the heart of the historic centre, a few minutes from the station. Many events are free to enter; the ice rink and some activities may have a fee.
