The widespread Christmas of Cerveteri: village, ice rink, and over a month of free events
Natale Caerite is the calendar of Christmas events with which the Municipality of Cerveteri, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital (Lazio), accompanies the community from the first week of December until mid-January. It is not a single event, but a widespread festival: for over a month, the squares, districts, and historic halls of the Etruscan town are filled with music, theater, tradition, and free appointments designed for families, children, and visitors.
The scenic heart of the festival is the Christmas village set up in the Historic Center, between Piazza Risorgimento and the streets of the village, with lights, markets, and wooden houses. In Piazza Aldo Moro, one of the most beloved attractions returns: the large ice skating rink, open throughout the holidays—a draw for teenagers and families who choose to spend their holiday afternoons and evenings in Cerveteri.
The calendar weaves together different genres and locations. Recurring appointments include the CaereMusica musical review, the theatrical performance Boccaccio in Scena, the candlelight concerts by Le Capinere, and the grand Gospel evenings, such as the choir concert in the Granarone Council Chamber. There is also no shortage of concerts by the Gruppo Bandistico Cerite, moments dedicated to the little ones, and Christmas readings. The main halls hosting the events are Sala Ruspoli and the Granarone Council Chamber.
Alongside the shows, Natale Caerite enhances the roots of the territory with the Living Nativity, the Befana Cerveterana that closes the festivities, and the district festivals, such as the Festa della Pizzetta Fritta of the Madonna dei Canneti District and the Festa dell'Olio Nuovo, opportunities to taste the typical products of the Cerveteri countryside and gather among neighbors.
Experiencing Natale Caerite also means discovering Cerveteri, the ancient Caere, famous for the Banditaccia Necropolis, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the National Cerite Museum. The festivities become the ideal occasion to combine the Christmas atmosphere with a visit to the Historic Center and the archaeological heritage that makes this town on the Lazio coast unique.
The Natale Caerite 2025 kicked off on Friday, December 5, 2025, continuing until mid-January 2026 with a rich calendar of free-admission appointments promoted by the Municipality of Cerveteri and the Department of Culture. The Historic Center hosted the Christmas village and lights, while Piazza Aldo Moro welcomed the large ice skating rink.
Among the events on the bill were the CaereMusica review, the Boccaccio in Scena theatrical show, the candlelight concerts by Le Capinere, and the Gospel evenings, with the Sister Heart choir concert on December 28 in the Granarone Council Chamber. The program also included the concert of the Gruppo Bandistico Cerite, the Living Nativity, district festivals, and the Befana Cerveterana to close the festivities.
Main venues for the shows: Sala Ruspoli and Granarone Council Chamber.
Cerveteri is located north of Rome, along the Via Aurelia. By car: A12 Rome-Civitavecchia, exit Cerveteri-Ladispoli. By train: Marina di Cerveteri-Ladispoli station on the Rome-Pisa line, then bus to the center. The village and the ice rink are located in the Historic Center, between Piazza Aldo Moro and Piazza Risorgimento.
The Natale Caerite events are free and open to the public. The ice rink has a rental fee managed by the concessionaires. During the setup of the rink, traffic around Piazza Aldo Moro undergoes changes.
