Mutton Sauce Gnocchi Festival (A Sunday in May)

The 2025 edition took place on Sunday, May 11, in the historic center of Nerola, in the Metropolitan City of Rome. The day began at 10 AM with the opening of the craft and local produce market, access to the village, and the panoramic terrace overlooking the Sabine olive groves.

At 12 PM, the food stalls set up in Piazza San Sebastiano opened, with a second service shift in the evening. The full menu, offered at €18, included bruschetta with extra virgin olive oil from the Nerola hills and tomato, gnocchi with mutton sauce, mutton, water, and a glass of wine; the non-mutton alternative, at €15, featured tomato gnocchi and a homemade grilled sausage sandwich. Off-menu items included Nutella crêpes and local traditional desserts.

Accompanying the lunch were live music and inflatables for children, in a day that confirmed the festival as one of the most attended spring events in the Roman Sabina.
