High-altitude concerts in the Ossola mountains, featuring the Alpe Prasca stage in Crevoladossola
Musica in Quota is one of the most original festivals in Northern Piedmont: a traveling event that brings live music to the mountains of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola every summer, transforming alpine pastures, mountain passes, and lakes into open-air natural stages. The stop in the Municipality of Crevoladossola is held at Alpe Prasca, at an altitude of 1,299 meters, in the evocative setting of the upper Ossola Valley.
The Alpe Prasca concert is one of the season's opening events and can only be reached on foot, following a hiking trail that starts from the hamlet of Scezza (750 m). The trail, approximately 9 kilometers long and classified as an E-level (hiking) route, winds through forests and pastures until it reaches the alpine meadow where the concert begins at noon. While those interested can join a group led by CAI volunteers, the trail is also suitable for independent hikers, with refreshment points available along the way and at the destination.
The festival's philosophy is simple and captivating: earn the music through the effort of the climb, rewarded by a concert in a natural amphitheater surrounded by the Alps. The Crevoladossola stop is enhanced by Crevola Art Trekking, an art exhibition spread along the trail that accompanies walkers from the start to the summit, merging hiking, contemporary art, and music.
Organized by the Musica in Quota Association with the support of local authorities, the Municipality of Crevoladossola, and the Piedmont Region, the festival promotes villages and mountain pastures often far from mass tourism. Every concert is free and serves as an opportunity to rediscover the Ossola mountains through the universal language of music.
For its twentieth anniversary, Musica in Quota presented ten free concerts from June 7 to September 20, 2026, in the mountains of the VCO. The opening stage took place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Alpe Prasca in Crevoladossola, starting at 11:30 AM.
The star was the Canaja Brass Quintet, a brass ensemble formed in 2017, with a repertoire blending contemporary Italian music and American jazz, joined by circus artists from the Four Hand Circus. The day was complemented by Crevola Art Trekking, an art exhibition spread along the trail from Scezza to the alpine pasture.
Crevola Art Trekking: art exhibition along the trail, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Guided departure with CAI from Scezza at 8:30 AM.
Other 2026 festival stops: June 28 Alpe Ad Vel (Keily's Folk), July 12 Alpe Pluni (BAIRES), July 19 Alpe Curgei (Village H), August 2 Alpe La Gerbia, August 6 Alpe Casalavera (Omar Pedrini), August 23 Lago Kastel (Decaband 883), September 6 Alpe Incino (Feminina Trio), September 13 Alpe Loccia (Sun4tet), September 20 Oasi Zegna (Papaveri Rossi).
Alpe Prasca can only be reached on foot starting from the hamlet of Scezza (Crevoladossola, 750 m), along an E-level hiking trail of approximately 9 km. Crevoladossola is easily accessible by car from the A26 motorway (exit towards Domodossola) and by train at the nearby Domodossola station, an international hub on the Simplon line.
The concert starts at 11:30 AM. A guided hike with CAI departs at 8:30 AM; the trail can also be hiked independently. Admission is free. In case of bad weather, the concert may be cancelled and the artistic event postponed to the following Sunday.
