Music that unites on the summer solstice in Gioiosa Marea
The Music Festival is an event of international scope: born in France in 1982 as the Fรชte de la Musique, it is celebrated every year on June 21st, coinciding with the summer solstice. Today, it is spread all over the world as a moment dedicated to promoting music as a tool for aggregation and popular participation. In Gioiosa Marea, a charming seaside village in the province of Messina overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and nestled between the sea and the mountains of the Nebrodi Park, the event is now a consolidated tradition of the local summer.
The hub of the event is Piazza Cavour, in the town center, which comes alive throughout the evening with music, meetings, and festive moments. The square welcomes the public in an informal and familiar atmosphere, with a food area dedicated to local specialties and a musical program that alternates young emerging talents with more established groups and guests. Admission is completely free, in the original spirit of the event.
The festival is organized by the Pro Loco Gioiosa Marea with the patronage of the municipal administration and is part of the "GioiosaMente Estate" summer calendar. An appointment capable of uniting different generations through music and the desire to be together, which over the years has become an integral part of the Gioiosa summer and a symbol of the cultural vitality of this corner of the Tyrrhenian Sicily.
Sunday, June 21st, 2026, Piazza Cavour hosts the fifth consecutive edition of the Music Festival in Gioiosa Marea, on the day of the summer solstice. An evening of live music, meetings, and celebration, with free admission, organized by the Pro Loco Gioiosa Marea with the patronage of the municipal administration.
The international event celebrates its 32nd edition worldwide in 2026, confirming itself as an appointment now rooted in the summer calendar of the Nebrodi village.
Gioiosa Marea is located on the Tyrrhenian coast of the province of Messina. By car: A20 Messina-Palermo motorway, exit Brolo-Capo d'Orlando or Patti, then SS113. By train: the Gioiosa Marea station is served by the Messina-Palermo Tyrrhenian line. The nearest airport is Catania-Fontanarossa.
