The jazz festival in Muro Leccese, in the heart of Salento
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Mur'onJazz Festival is the annual event that transforms Piazza del Popolo in Muro Leccese (Lecce province) into an open-air stage entirely dedicated to jazz. Established in 2021, the event is conceived and directed by singer and songwriter Valentina Grande, who has turned it into a landmark for genre enthusiasts across Salento, with the patronage of the Municipality of Muro Leccese.
The festival was born from the desire to celebrate a musical tradition that has long been deeply rooted in this ancient Messapian town. Each edition pays homage to the figures who sowed the seeds of jazz passion in the town, such as the late Antonio Culiersi and maestro Giuseppe Chiri, remembered as true ambassadors of this music in the region. Mur'onJazz thus aims to keep the deep bond between Muro Leccese and the jazz language alive.
The program ranges from classic jazz to Latin jazz, featuring ensembles, orchestras, and prominent voices from the Salento and national scene. Piazza del Popolo is decorated with characteristic Salento luminarie and enlivened by enchanting light displays on stage, creating that warm and intimate atmosphere typical of August evenings in Southern Puglia. The evening concerts, generally free of charge, draw both residents and visitors into the historic center of the village.
Muro Leccese is a small town in the province of Lecce, nestled in the landscape of lower Salento among olive groves, dry-stone walls, and Messapian ruins. Its main square, the heart of town life, becomes the soul of the festival for one night, offering spectators the chance to combine the discovery of an authentic Puglian village with the pleasure of high-quality live music.
The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the organizers. Following the trend of previous editions, the Mur'onJazz Festival is expected to return to its traditional late-August setting in Piazza del Popolo. The program and line-up will be communicated via the event's official channels.
