The Motorbike Festival in Melito Irpino was born from the enthusiasm of a group of local motorcyclists and has quickly become one of the most popular motorcycle events in the province of Avellino. It is organized by the ASD Valle dell'Ufita in Moto, an association founded and led by Rocco Minichiello, which uses the rally to showcase the roads and villages of the Valle dell'Ufita—a corner of inland Campania often overlooked by mainstream tourism but perfect for those who love riding through curves, hills, and open landscapes.

The gathering at Piazza degli Eroi and the motorcycle tour

The heart of the event is Piazza degli Eroi, in the center of Melito Irpino, where hundreds of motorcycles of all types arrive early in the morning: maxi-enduros, customs, sportbikes, and vintage models. Registration, breakfast, and social greetings between clubs precede the start of the motorcycle tour, which winds through the inland roads of Irpinia, visiting neighboring towns. In past editions, the route has stopped in Sturno, with a warm welcome from the municipal administration and an aperitif offered to participants, while in other years, the group reached the Laceno plateau, passing through Frigento, Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi, and Bagnoli Irpino. The return to town concludes the morning and kicks off the afternoon of performances.

Stunt shows, tuning, and entertainment

The Motorbike Festival is more than just a ride. The program typically includes stunt shows, acrobatic performances, technical demonstrations, music, and social gatherings that keep the square lively until evening. In the 2025 edition, Melito Irpino also hosted the regional stage of the Tuning & Sound Over Bass competition, dedicated to vehicle modifications and audio systems, attracting enthusiasts from across the region. Food stands and dining areas round out the day in the true spirit of a local festival.

A message of road safety

One of the hallmarks of the rally is its focus on road safety. For years, the organizers have promoted a simple concept: riding a motorcycle is freedom, but this freedom must not turn into risk. For this reason, the motorcycle tour is always escorted, and the performances are accompanied by awareness campaigns aimed primarily at younger riders. It is thanks to this approach that the initiative has gained the support of the municipal administrations of the Valle dell'Ufita.
