Floats and masks among the hamlets of Montecastrilli
The Montecastrilli Carnival is one of the most cherished festivals in this municipality in the province of Terni. The event has a special characteristic: it involves not only the main town but all its hamlets โ Casteltodino, Castel dell'Aquila, Quadrelli, Farnetta, and Collesecco โ creating a choral event deeply rooted in the local community.
The heart of the festival is the parade of allegorical floats and masked groups along Via Giuseppe Verdi. Handmade masks, colorful costumes, and music transform the town's streets into an open-air stage, with great participation from adults and children. It is a tradition that renews the creativity and pride of the inhabitants of the various hamlets each year.
After the parades, the celebration continues with lunch at the Serafini Fairgrounds and the lottery draw, moments of conviviality that seal the Carnival day. Organized by the Carnival Committee in synergy with the Pro Loco, the event is an unmissable appointment on the Sundays of February in Montecastrilli.
The 2026 edition of the Carnival was held on the Sundays of February 8th and 15th. The grand parade on Sunday, February 15th, brought allegorical floats and handmade masks along the streets of Montecastrilli, involving the entire community and all the town's hamlets.
The festival involved the hamlets of Casteltodino, Castel dell'Aquila, Quadrelli, Farnetta, and Collesecco, and was organized by the Carnival Committee in synergy with the local Pro Loco.
