The 'Penne Nere' in Salò for the Section's Centenary
The Monte Suello Section Alpini Gathering is the main annual gathering of the National Alpini Association section named after Monte Suello, a site of Risorgimento battles in Valle Sabbia. Each year, the event takes place in a different municipality within the section's territory; in 2026, the honor falls to Salò, in the province of Brescia.
The gathering is marked by the traditional rituals of the Alpine world: the assembly of groups, the ceremony of the traveling Banner, the procession through the town streets, the flag-raising, and honors to the fallen at the monuments. Alongside the official moments, there are concerts by the fanfares and convivial gatherings that make these meetings an occasion for remembrance and friendship.
The 2026 edition has a special significance: the Monte Suello Section celebrates its one hundred years of foundation (1926-2026). For the occasion, the presence of the national president of the ANA is expected, along with a centenary concert performed by the Salò Group Fanfare. An event that intertwines the history of the Brescia Alpini with that of the Lake Garda community.
Attending an Alpini gathering means experiencing an authentic piece of Italian tradition: the procession of the 'Penne Nere', the tricolor flags in the windows, the warmth of the people. In Salò, with Lake Garda as a backdrop, the centenary edition promises to be particularly heartfelt.
From June 12 to 14, 2026, Salò hosts the 72nd Sectional Gathering of the Monte Suello Alpini, a special edition for the centenary of the Section, founded in 1926.
Three days of ceremonies, remembrance, and Alpine celebration, with the participation of the national ANA president.
The program may be subject to updates communicated by the Monte Suello ANA Section.
Salò is reachable by car from the SS45 bis (exits A4 Desenzano or Brescia Est). During the gathering, traffic changes are expected: it is advisable to follow the signs and designated parking areas. By train to Desenzano del Garda-Sirmione and then a bus to Salò.
The ceremonies and procession are free to access along the town route.
