About Montagne di Neve

Montagne di Neve is the summer cultural review of Longiano, in the province of Forlì-Cesena, which brings meetings, talks, concerts, and live performances to Piazza Malatestiana between June and August. Seven events with leading voices from the Italian scene — from geopolitics to cinema, from music to dance — to make the square a place for thought, meeting, and beauty out of season. The name comes from a verse by the Longiano poet Tito Balestra.

A review that brings the square back to the center

Montagne di Neve is the summer cultural review of the Municipality of Longiano, a small hilly village in the province of Forlì-Cesena, in Emilia-Romagna. For an entire summer, the evocative Piazza Malatestiana, at the foot of the castle, transforms into an open-air lounge where talks, readings, concerts, and live performances alternate. The underlying idea is both simple and ambitious: to restore the square to its historical role as a place for meeting, discussion, and shared thought.

A title born from poetry

The name of the review is not accidental. It is inspired by a verse by the great Longiano poet Tito Balestra — "If you have a mountain of snow, keep it in the shade" — an invitation to cherish what is precious and fragile. It is no coincidence that the project also benefits from the collaboration of the Tito Balestra Foundation, which is based in Longiano.

Who organizes it

The review is conceived by the Municipality of Longiano, through the Department of Culture, together with the young cultural start-up Approdi from Bellaria Igea Marina, already a promoter of the Bellaria Film Festival. The artistic direction is entrusted to Sergio Canneto. A project entirely supported by the municipal administration, designed to offer quality programming with predominantly free admission.

What to expect

  • Meetings and dialogues with writers, journalists, and protagonists of Italian culture
  • Concerts and musical performances in the square
  • Dance performances and performing arts
  • Readings and stories dedicated to cinema, history, and current events
  • An intimate setting, with the square set up with hundreds of seats under the stars

An event for the territory

More than just a calendar of events, Montagne di Neve offers a community experience: an opportunity for citizens, holidaymakers, and tourists to experience the historic center of Longiano on summer evenings, amidst the art, ideas, and conviviality of one of the most charming villages in the Romagna hinterland.

Montagne di Neve — edition 2026

The second edition of Montagne di Neve animates Piazza Malatestiana in Longiano from June 17 to August 29, 2026, with seven events. The program features some of the most authoritative voices in Italian culture: from Gino Castaldo to Serena Dandini, from Valerio Mastandrea to Dario Fabbri, and dance performances by the Dewey Dell company. Admission is mostly free.

The second edition of Montagne di Neve confirms the winning formula of 2025: seven evenings in Piazza Malatestiana in Longiano, featuring talks, stories, music, and performances. Artistically directed by Sergio Canneto and promoted by the Municipality of Longiano with the start-up Approdi, the review offers a program ranging from song to geopolitics, from cinema to contemporary dance.

The square is set up with about 500 seats, expandable to 700. Almost all meetings are free admission; only one evening requires a ticket.
