About Moncalieri Legge

Moncalieri Legge is the widespread literary festival held in the municipality of Moncalieri, in the province of Turin. It features two days of author meetings, collective readings, and dialogues on contemporary issues, brought to life by local libraries and reading groups. The heart of the event is the Rivelazioni series, directed by Nicola Lagioia at the Fonderie Limone, and the City of Moncalieri Literary Prize. Admission is free.

Moncalieri Legge: the city telling its story through books

Moncalieri Legge is the literary event of the Municipality of Moncalieri, a town in the southern outskirts of Turin, Piedmont. For two days, reading becomes a shared space: meetings with writers, collective reading sessions, and dialogues between authors, readers, and citizens spread throughout the city's libraries and public spaces. It is not a festival aimed only at industry professionals, but an opportunity for everyone to gather around stories and ideas.

The Rivelazioni series at Fonderie Limone

The heart of the event is the Rivelazioni series, hosted at the Fonderie Limone and directed by writer Nicola Lagioia. A series of meetings designed not to offer pre-packaged answers, but to open up new visions and perspectives: reflecting on school and adolescence, ecology and conflict, and more generally on the role of literature in understanding the present. Some of the most recognizable voices on the Italian cultural scene take the stage in dialogue with the audience.

The City of Moncalieri Literary Prize

Linked to Moncalieri Legge is the City of Moncalieri Literary Prize, awarded through the active involvement of reading groups from the BI.TO (Integrated Libraries of Turin) system. The prize stems from a participatory process that makes readers the protagonists of the selection, with the involvement of high school students and performance art accompanying the award ceremony.

A widespread and free festival

The event is promoted by the Municipality of Moncalieri and Visit Moncalieri, with the support of the Piedmont Region and the collaboration of the Moncalieri Cultura Committee and the Antonio Arduino Civic Library. All events are free of charge: an invitation to the entire city to rediscover the pleasure of reading as a shared experience in one of the most culturally vibrant towns in the province of Turin.

Moncalieri Legge โ€” edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Moncalieri Legge was held on Friday, February 13 and Saturday, February 14, featuring two days of meetings, collective readings, and dialogues on the present. Highlights included the new Rivelazioni series directed by Nicola Lagioia at the Fonderie Limone and the awarding of the City of Moncalieri Literary Prize to Viola Ardone. Free admission.

The 2026 edition of Moncalieri Legge brought the city to life on February 13 and 14 with a program spread across the Fonderie Limone, the BI.TO system libraries, and public spaces in Moncalieri. The common thread: reading as a shared space, in a participatory journey that placed local reading groups at the center.

A new feature this year was the Rivelazioni series, directed by Nicola Lagioia, with seven meetings dedicated to school and adolescence, ecology, conflict, and the role of literature in understanding the present. The City of Moncalieri Literary Prize was awarded to Viola Ardone for her novel Tanta ancora vita (Einaudi, 2025).
