In the small town of Momo, in the Province of Novara and the heart of Piedmont, the Teatro Comunale hosts one of the most beloved amateur theater festivals in the Novara region: Momo: Theater Up Close. The name says it all: in a cozy hall, the spectator experiences the show just a few meters from the stage, in a direct and almost familiar relationship with the actors. It is this intimacy that makes the festival so special and different from large city theaters.

Who organizes the festival

The festival is promoted by the APS L'Arcano of Momo, a social promotion association that has been enlivening the town's cultural life for years, with the patronage of the Municipality of Momo and FITA Piemonte (Italian Federation of Amateur Theater). Thanks to this network, each edition manages to involve companies coming not only from the Novara area but also from Lombardy and Liguria, ensuring a varied and high-quality program.

What to expect

The common thread is comedy: brilliant scripts, full of misunderstandings and plot twists, capable of making you laugh but also surprising you. There is no shortage of mysteries and dark comedies, genres very popular with the festival's audience. The shows are generally held on Saturday evenings at 9:00 PM, from January to April.

A growing tradition

Born in the early 2020s, the festival has consolidated a loyal audience edition after edition, becoming a fixed appointment of the winter in Momo. For those visiting the Novara region, it is also an opportunity to discover an authentic village and its lively community, among the rice fields and hills that separate Novara from Lake Maggiore.
